Yes and don't know. They might have been my first "mod", so I've had them for a while. They didn't save me from having to replace my trans at 170K for a completely non-heat related problem.

I think they're a great idea, but I doubt you'll ever find proof that they're worth it. For what it's worth I put them on the reman trans too.
 
I put two of them on my 01. No problem and I am over 204,000 miles now on my 6 speed. I think they are worth the effort as they add about 2 1/2 quarts of fluid along with that extra cooling.
 
I have them, and they seem to keep the trans cooler... seem to prolong fluid life too. I have actually gotten 20k out of this last fill... before I was lucky to get 12k out of the fluid.

They do work, you can watch the temperature guage rise and lower as you pull/descend grades. And the trans does run cooler than without the coolers.

Thank's, looks like i'll be ordering a set. :D Look's like geno's is about the cheapest place to purchace. Anywhere else?

OK, the extra fluid I can see, but you're telling me that two little pieces of aluminum are going to make any difference in temps of a aluminum cased trans?

Case in point: my trans (NV5600) will run 150*F, however the transfercase won't even be warm to the touch.

The transfer case is not changing the output shaft speed, it is one for one during normal operation. So the losses should be real low, therefore low heat gain. The nv5600 in 5th gear will operate with lower temperature then in 6th gear. The fast coolers are great, however on the right side the exhaust pipe is in the way to install. The next fluid change, I will need to mill an inch off and get shorter bolts. Steve are you still running redline? Or did you change to something else.

Mine started out with clear lexan covers. The problem is they (the lexan covers) eventually cracked, so I replaced the covers with aluminum covers.
 
Steve are you still running redline? Or did you change to something else.







Redline has been the best to date... I swapped back to Royal Purple for a single change and it didn't last.



I've gotten 20k on this fill right now (with the majority towing)... its stiff shifting and needs changed, but that's mainly because its cold out.

I understand the difference between a tcase and a trans, but why would an aluminum case transmission need additional cooling? Its already got about the best heat transfer through the case.



I do agree that a NV5600 can really benefit (in heat loss) from them... as cattletrkr pointed out, does that really mean anything?

You need some heat to help the fluid move and lubercate the bearings and gears. Too much heat of course causes the fluid to turn foul and breakdown and lose its ability to provide lubercation. A little additional cooling is a good thing for the care and feeding of the transmission.
