Is it possible

New Drag race video Jvolpe & Cummins Thunder

I found out by accident if while sitting in park

I turn on the cruise control and then push set

The idle while I'm still in park increases from 700-800 to

1100-1200 rpm

Is this a feature or a coincidence?

I have a 2006 3500 quad with a dealer added Jacobs exhaust brake

Curious as to whether it is the brake causing this or just the truck

Anyone else noticed this or tried it??

I think it's a feature that is turned on for trucks that are supplied to colder climes. They (2006) all have the feature but some are not activated. I asked local dealer to activate mine and was told it's not cool enough here to need it. Later when I visited my favorite dealer about 60 miles away I asked the service manager how much they would charge to enable the feature, he said " Nothing, we do it for all our customers. " By the way, after you put it in high idle, if you hold the resume down it will idle up even higher, I think mine goes up to about 1400 rpm. bg

That is called manual high idle, it should be used any time your are gonna idle your truck. And yest, we would activate it on every new vehicle that we would have and we would do it for free for anybody cause it only takes about a minute. Also remember that if the computer is updated, they need to go in and make sure that it is still activated.

Remember to use the high idle feature with the exhaust brake turned on for faster warm-ups and to keep cylinder temps from dropping when idling in colder weather; avoids the dreaded cylinder wash-down from unburned fuel.

ive tryed this in my '93 W250, :D not luck. then again my cruise dont work for me when im driving. it just surges around and never actually holds steady. i got the idea from my job. Im a diesel mechanic for a trucking company and with our trucks you can do the same thing. Most the ISM Cummins and some Cats too.
