I'm looking for a fast reacting exhaust thermocouple. The one I have now is way too slow and I fear I'll melt something before I even see it on the pyrometer. What's everyone using? I can't remember which one I'm using off the top of my head cuz it's mot the one that came with my Autometer gauges. thanks in advance, Dan

is your pyro downstream of your turbo?

You might try getting a replacement from Autometer. The one that I got from them reads as soon as I step on or off the gas pedal. Or maybe the gauge is sticking? How old is it?

My Dipricol moves up as fast as the tach. Going down is slightly slower - but that's not the probe's fault. :-laf

My Autometer seems to be very fast. It moves quicker than the speedo, which I find annoying and plan to remedy someday...

go with a thinner sheath diameter. I run an ungrounded 1/16" inconnel 600 thermocouple that is very responsive. less mass is good :-laf

Talk about fast here is autometer's 5243 probe on the right. Probes that come with a reg. gauge are not that quick to react. Like (Bob said the thinner the faster) but this probe here cost more than a EGT gauge kit. About 165. ?? just for the probe and the open end just has a wire.
