Hello everyone,

I have determined that i need to take my alternator off... i'm outside and it's -5 with the wind blowin... .

Whats the fastest/ best way to remove the alternator... .

If some could give me a step by step it would really save me from wasting time and frezzing to death. .

Thanks to all!!

Take the top bolt out at the thermostat, let the alternator rock downward. There won't be much tension on the belt. Remove the upper bracket, then use a long 3/8 rachet to release the tension on the belt and remove it from the alternator. Take off the connections at the back of the alternator, then the bottom bolt.

When you put it back in put the bottom bolt in the alternator, the bracket back on the top, then the belt. With one arm you can curl the alternator up and put the top bolt in with the other hand. It's easier to put the belt on this way... keeping you warm.

Don't forget to to disconnest the ground leads from the battery FIRST - - Be hell if you caught the terminal on a ground while you shook with the cold.
