Competition T.I.M Sled Pull videos..?

Competition Larry Crawford @ Muncie

Thought I would start this thread as the board is just too dead! To date there are only a few 2WD trucks running good ET's, I can think of Nowell (HVAC) 12. 0's, Wayne 13. 1's... . any others!

Jim

Plus's are Street Tires and Daily Drivers, Drive it to the track set it up, run then drive it back home!

Wait till the posts come in from Bradenton. Jeff Garmon ran a couple of 10. 8's to set a new DHRA world record. Low 13's were the best of the day. I think we had one or two high 12's. Except for Dave's his were all low 12's. Neither Jeff or Dave were running any juice and both were using 12 valvers. :D

Jeff

None of us will be able to catch that truck (Jeff's). But he's in a different class anyway. You prolly haven't seen that truck up close Jim, it's stripped to the bone and not street legal. I suppose something will come along in the pro class that may keep up with him.

Jim, it's much harder to campaign a 2wd. They don't want to launch hard. Jeff had the same problem with his truck a couple years ago. Compared to the 4x4 we are lighter sure, but a 4x4 will outrun us everytime without significant chassis mods.

HVAC-I don't believe that. If you take two trucks equiped the same way I believe the 2wd will be faster. Sure 60' times go to the 4x4 but the 2wd has less rotating mass and will catch and pass the 4x4 before 1/4 mile mark. Problem is its tough to find 2 trucks equally equiped. :D

"2wd always faster"- not always,Ive been drag racing along time and whether its 4wd or 2wd the 60' times are REALLY important to run a fast ET. Because its like in a motorcross start, there are some motorcycles that have more power but the one that gets out of the hole first ,hence 4wd, will get to the corner first. Its the same way with drag racing,as long as the power between the two trucks is not massively different.

Been There/Done That

Bill, I'm not talking about theory. I"ve seen what happens on the track with the 4x4's and my truck. I couldn't keep up with them till I did extensive modifications. I ran 15's against 4x4's that had less power but better traction runnin 14's. I couldn't leave the line with ANY boost, they left with 20 psi! I spun till I was halfway through OD.

Yeah, you can go fast on the top end, and I did. Didn't matter though if the other guy gets there first!

I'm working on the 2WD down falls right now, what I really want is a set of 10" slicks in 16" version to run on stock rims with screws so I can keep the stock sleeper look, I would get 01 or 02 8" rims though. The Caltrac's and other cencored stuff I use work real good even with the stock tires... ... . I'm probeing.

Jim

Probeing

Jim, what are you probeing for?

Didn't someone say that a tenth in the 60' is worth like three tenths on the big end??? The 60' time is crucial.

I went testing Thursday night (closed early) and friday night, made several passes and the last one was the best, here is the slip. Looks hard to read, 12. 708@113. 4 with 2. 095... 60 ft.

[/IMG]#ad

The pass before was a 12. 85 and the rest were 13. 01 and 13. 02 and all were in the middle 113 MPH range, once I stopped getting greed and started leaving at 10 PSI I quit having to peddle it. I'm working on other stuff to drop the ET's on the stock tires, the crowd just loved it cause it's so much of a sleeper look but puts on a good show.

Jim

Piers just encouraged me to post the times

I wonder who liked it better me or the crowd, they went absolutely nuts, 200-300 kids for shootout night and they were my cheering crowd but I never heard them I was just told that! I really need to see video of the run to see how the truck reacts. I dropped just a few jaws and got lots of questions, like what the HE!! did you do to this!

Jim

Yes Nowell it feels good!

Way to go Jim, keep um guessing. When my buddie ran the 13. 95 in his 4 wd, people were laughing at him... ..... NOT after the time flashed. What I love to tell them is ... . "Yea, and it has 180,000 miles on it... ... ... Has never had the head off... ... Factory bottom end... ... . and it also weights in at a sevete 6650 lbs without driver... ... ... " One kid in a ricer was impressing his buddies with his massive boost... . 13-14 psi. Impressive for a gasser 4 cyl. When I told him that the Dodge left the line with that much he wanted to call Bull$hit. He nearly fainted when I told him it maxed out at around 42 psi (PDR HX-40).

You guys keep up the good fight... ... As soon as I un@ss myself out of a slight financial bind I hope to join you chasing those times.

Jim

Good job Jim... .....

Keep trying to get to the track here but it keeps snowing.

It was opening March 29th, it snowed March 28th.

Now planning April 11th. It just snowed today, hoping it warms up by Friday.

Have you weighed the beast yet?

Christian

Christian, I know you ran with some big slicks on several occasions. Were you running in 4x4 with the slicks? I assume you did. I know Jim didn't do that well with the slicks on the back while in 2wd. So I'm guessing you did not follow his lead.

Have you weighed the beast yet?

Weighed it last yeat it was 6300, I added a aluminum box(small) and the stuff I carry with me is say 150 LBS as a guess. I have some more tricks before I give up on the 265's.

Jim

Me In The Truck?

If you mean me JIm we would be over 6000 with my petite 300 body squeezed in. The truck is about 5800.
