Fat wheels and tires for up front ?

I remember ads in motorhome magazines advertising fat tires and wheels to replace the front wheels and tires on motorhomes. I would like to have such on my dually so the front wheels would be less likely to dig into the sand. Anybody tried that?

A lot of guys run 255/85R16s on the rear and 285/75R16s on the front, they are the same height, about 33" tall.

Are the rims wide enough to run the 285's without wearing the center of the tread prematurely?

They are a bit on the narrow side, but its fairly common. However, the 255s and 285s are probably a bit tall for a 2wd (I think that is what you have?).

yep; mine's a 2wd. It presently has 245-85/16's on front.

You should be able to get a 245-75 on the rim no trouble. My Mule(4x4) came with 245-75/16 tire with 16 x 6. 5 rims.



If you plan on replacing all the tires a 265-75/16 front and 265-85/16 back should give you enough clearance.



I know a guy with 4x4 dually put 265or 285 -75/16 all the way around. He put a spacer in between the wheels but his back tires are still close. If he puts a heavy load on his back tires are going to be rubbing. Should of had 85's on the back.
