When I was 12 or 13...

Man o Man its a tough one raising these girls for 20 years and then having them spread their wings and flying off.

My oldest daughter graduated from nursing scool and is now over the mountain from us some 200 miles at her new job. We are so very proud of her and her accomplishments , but I already miss her , her smiley face and the little girl that was always there to greet me after a hard day of work.

The relationship between a father and a daughter is a very special one that compares to none other, I saw my son off a year and half ago to the Navy and it was tough but not like letting your little girl go, :{ yes a few tears were shed too as we are both very sensitive , we both know that this is what is best for all and she has grown up to be on her own now, I wish her well and will visit as often as I can, My little girl has flown from our nest... ... ... ... ... . Kev, I Know How You Feel !!

Had a Boy and a Girl and know how you feel. My Daughter is 30 now with 2 children but will always be my little girl. ;) ;) ;)

I also have a daughter that just turned 20, so I know what you mean. It sure sounds like you have her going in the right direction with her education. My daughter started the nursing program then dropped out, :rolleyes:sure wish she would have finished. All we can do is hope for the best. I'm happy for you and your daughter.

:D This kind of makes me laugh because of my situation. My little sister is away at college... about 4 hours away, and I get to watch the parental withdraw mutate from day to day :p Don't get me wrong here, my sister is my best friend, and I love my parents, but... . it's Easter, and my parents left me here by myself, because they didn't want my sister to feel "alone" on Easter :rolleyes: ha ha ha, nothing like being the "boy" :D

So far, both of my daughters haven't strayed too far from the nest (one is still at home @ 21). Hopefully they will stay nearby and continue to visit almost every day. That doesn't stop a man from worrying about them though. Congratulations Kevin for raising a good family.

Aw Man...

Geez Kevin, now ya got me going. :{ :{ My daughter is just 10, but I think I know what you must feel like. I have been dreading the day she goes away to college for several years now. The time just goes too fast. I often remind myself that this is the best time of my life. And I do know what you mean about the special bond between a father and daughter. My wife was sick when our daughter was born, so I was the one who really bonded with her the most in the early months. I was the one who was up with her at 3:00am for the feeding and diaper changes. There's gonna be a big time empty nest thing around here in 8 years. I guess us old dads gotta stick together when that time comes. Just promise me you'll be there for me then, man!:{ :{

Geeez Lueez. I've got three daughters 13. 5,8,7, and we've promised them they could live at home until married. I don't want to think about them leaving but am preparing anyway. It sure comes faster than we realize. Thank God for homeschooling and the opportunity to invest all we can into them. :) :)

Suddenly you remember, and can relate to, when your folks said "oh, they grow up so fast". That Harry Chapin "Cats in the cradle" tune comes to mind. :{ :{ But then a few years down the line you realize you have more time to play, and a few more $$ to do it with. Oo.

I no longer "wish my life away" with that c'mon Friday stuff as time is goin' way too fast... ... . what happened?:confused:

The bottom line is do it today, cause theres no gaurentees on this one.

Our daughter is now 15. I tease her relentlessly, she loves it and gives it right back. We drive my wife crazy. Her favorite descriptions for me are "dork, demented, weird, and cracked. I've pulled more stunts on her and wife than I can remember. Only time I ever really got in trouble was when she was about 3-4 and I told her she was daddy's little hemorrhoid. Daughter was very proud of that and unkown to us was telling everybody. Pastor of our church knows me well and while laughing so hard he could barely talk, told mommy what my daughter was telling everyone at church. We still hear about that one once in a while and wife gets mad all over again. I'll sure miss my girl when she leave the nest. I hope she stays close. The guy she marries someday had best have a sense of humor!!:-laf :-laf
