Just wanted to post a quick thumbs up. I installed the FatMat hood liner kit today and it definitely made a small improvement in sound levels. I figured for $49 if it helped at all thats worth it alone, and I'm very satisfied. The stock hood is just bare metal. See my reader's rigs for a few pics of the hood liner install. Two thumbs up on this one, I recommend it. :)

Here's the link to the kit I used.

Isn't it amazing how Dodge just suddenly decided that hood liners are no longer necessary? They probably saved five bucks on that one.

yes they are certainly cutting corners - without putting hoodliners or rear wheel well liners, but oh well. Glad they didn't cut corners and just throw a powerstroke under the hood ;) :D Regardless, I'm somewhat glad they didn't now, because it wouldn't be as effective as the one that I installed. Factory hood liners are never that impressive IMO.

Well, a good step stool of some sort really helps if you have a 4x4, because it's somewhat hard to reach underneath the hood when it's up unless you're Shaq. I'd also recommend a better/sturdier rolling tool than the one that comes with the kit. I broke mine about 80% of the way through applying the first layer. Applying the first layer of fatmat/dynamat material is easy, I found it was best to cut it in smaller sections to allow it to more completely conform to the irregularities of the hood's underside. Other than that, its pretty darn easy. Sticky stuff, be sure you want to stick it where you do when you do, because it will stick! =]

AHA! Now I got it. A layer of dynamat goes underneath. ! Well I can say that if ya have an electric baseboard heater hangin around lay the roll on the heater on low. Hot / warm Dynamat goes on 15K times easier that's for sure. I Like the looks of the fatmat. Ohhh Mr Jengle ... .....

the fatmat went on very easily without any heat. Theres one layer of fatmat extreme which is similar to regular dynamat, and then the layer of sound absorbing foam. Not bad for $49.

Since it has to be trimmed to fit, I had some extra pieces, which I stuck on exposed areas of the hood. Doesn't look absolutely perfect or factory by any means, but who cares, my hood is closed. I figured I'd cover as much area as possible with the sound deadener. Some pics are in my reader's rigs if anyone wants to see the hood liner.

I wasn't upset when they took the hood/wheelwell liners.

cuz they gave me a low windshield wiper solution warning dinger

Don't feel too bad. In my E class if I'm low on fluid it will beep and say on the screen " wash fluid low" when you start the car AND when you shut off! They really want you to get the message I guess, lol... Liability.

As a follow up, I'm very pleased with the hood liner. The more I drive with it, the more I notice that it's quieter.
