Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) fault codes

Im sure most of you have been reading my transmission problems, maybe not, anyhow I checked the fault codes, it gave me 12 which is nothing but battery 24 which is too high or low of voltage from tps and 37 which is converter solenoid or trans temp sensor. I put new tps which didnt fix prob but converter doesnt lock and unlock as much as it used to, and the code has now gone away after I cleared teh computer. Doest this mean Im getting good voltage from tps? I now think as someone else here said its now my trans temp sensor causing all this downshifting. Will the sensor cause lock and unlock of converter too? Im getting happy im getting close to fixin this darn thing!!

TPS and trans temp sensor send data to PCM which decides when to shift or lock torque convertor. TPS usually can be sprayed out with electric oil then adjust for correct voltage.

Trans temp sensor will have to replaced.



Make sure you check for loose or broken wires/ bad connection or bent/loose pins at connectors... .



What did the fault code say about battery?



The engine speed sensor( specifically the connector) on 12 valves can help out with trans problems (actually it can cause one to many problems because of connector being dirty or pins being bent /loose). In 24 valves the engine speed sensor is known as the "crank speed sensor" this is because it is located in engine where the "ess" is located above vibration damper.



The engine speed sensor sends info to tps/pcm and asd relay. The ASD relay sends line voltage readings to PCM. Which then determines how much the alternator needs to put out. So if the fault code states low voltage check out ess connector.
