As an Authority on Beer, (just kidding) I had seen ads. on TV of Red Stripe claimed to be a Jamacian Beer I tried it (it was on Sale) I did not care for it, had a chemical after taste. When in Jamacia in 1949 and again 1951 it was all Rum dirt cheap also in Trinidad. Often the taste of Beer can be influenced by the foods one is consuming at the time. ( not a Wine-oww) but said the same applies there. ( Drinking Wine, it's Not Polite to Stick one's Nose in the glass, or so I'm told,) but the French with long pointy noses do it all the time. (Sacra, Blue?) Beer is an honest drink, I read that in olden days the students at Oxford and Cambridge Universities were allowed two pints at breakfast, (what a way to start the day) no wonder they went out and developed an Empire. As an 18 year old British Infantryman in India in 1945, shortly after joining the Battalion we were had a ration of four Flagons of Beer, we had to pay for it of course, adding Insult to Injury it was "Yankee Beer" issued in late afternoon 95*F it was a Pilsener Lager brewed in New York ( Thank God the British lost that Colony) shipped to San Francisco ( they deserved the earthquake) left there for Australia, (are you sure the Auzzies didn't drink the whole issue, and replaced said contents recycled from their urinals?)(save every drop) to Rangoon, to Calcutta then up to us in Ranchi. Was the journey really nessesary? As 18 year old British Beer was no stranger to us, that was why we did not pine after it or any alcholic beverages, as to my contempories in the US Forces. Lived in the USA for 51 years and still do not care for popular American beers, but am able to find many American Micro-Brews suitable to my taste. I feel if you can't bite into it it's not worth drinking. I'm all for supporting Home Industries, be an American, buy American Home Micro Brewed Beers, (even the Temperance Society of America Drinks to that!) p. s. I drink all Beers at room temperature, otherwise they are not worth drinking.
