Can someone tell me what part number to order from Cummins for a new Fuel Control Actuator? I have a 2006 5. 9 4x4 MCab Auto

Thanks,

Chad

I just changed mine out tonight. If possible, get it from a Cummins dealer. It was half the price the Dodge dealership wanted and still less than their price to my mechanic. It took all of five minutes to swap out.

Thanks everyone. I picked one up today at Cummins. Can someone tell me what it takes to remove and replace? Anything to watch out for?

Unplug, remove three bolts with 25 Torx bit, remove FCA, put new FCA in, install the three bolts, plug back in. Seriously, it was that easy.

I replaced my FCA before my injectors. The new one didn't help my issues so it was on to the injectors.

The strange part of the deal was that after the new injectors were installed my mid range power was very slugish. I just figured it was differnet injectors.

It has been driving me nuts so I threw the old FCA back in. Wow my midrange is right back now.

How can this be?

topend was the same (seat of pants feel)

it was almost like the go pedal wouldn't tell the computer to add fuel until about 3/4 throttle.

be very careful with the three little torks screws, they are a soft metal and it is very easy to strip the head out, i had a modded pump once that had a stripped torks screw and what a pain in the a--, ended up taking it out with a tiny pair of vice grips...

well, I put the new FCA in and it didnt help. I am still experiencing problems with the RPM's fluctuating. RPM's will drop to 500 then jump back to 750. Any ideas? Engine seeems to run fine. No Codes. I tried the instrument cluster diagnostic test, no change.

I do not have a rail pressure gauge and no aftermarket tuner. The truck starts great adn generally runs good. If i come to a stop i can see the rpm's jump around usually nothign higher than 750 but it will drop to 500 and sometimes even lower but engine doesnt seem to change. I will check into changing the rail pressure sensor. I appreciate any other ideas you might have.
