My 04 has come down with a dead driver-side headlight socket. As recommended by some past posts, I was going to pull the forward control module and clean the connections. What's the right way to get at that thing?

Courtesy the 2003 service manual:

2003 Service Manual said:
(1) Disconnect the positive and negative battery cables from the battery.

(2) Partially remove the integrated power module from the engine compartment.

(3) Remove the front control module retaining screws.

(4) Using both hands, pull the front control module straight from the integrated power module assembly to disconnect the 49-way electrical connector and remove the front control module from the vehicle.

I hope that helps.

remove LF headlight(driver), and fender liner if desired, remove bolts that hols the PDC (power distribution center) CAREFULY unplug the connections to the PDC remove and the fcm is the silver box on the side

i never replaced 1 but i know they are vin coded so either way a trip to the dealer is in your future

dont know if it will work but i have/had (I THINK I GOTTA CHECK) one out of an 05 auto never tried it but you can have it. last i heard bout a year ago they were hard to get

PM Twest he may have a new one or know where to get one

OH i assume you checked fuses??

Someone with an '05-up correct me, but I think the FCM is integrated with the TIPM, and therefore not replaceable as an individual unit.

i belive its on the fender side of the pdc like the older 3rds

silver box 1/2" thick and 4"x5" give or take on size plugs into pdc

look down between pdc and fender thats where it should be

Pulled mine, cleaned, greased with dialectic. didn't help.

Pulled headlight to access, but easiest way was to take out one bolt, one screw/clip, slide fuse box forward to loosen up and then have access to FCM.

My passenger side headlight is dead.

Now both low beams are dead. Will be trying to take apart IPM and cleaning it.
