Has anybody else had problems with Fed Ex employees attitudes? We are self employed in the window covering business. Somtimes we get defective blinds or shades & we have to return the product for repair or replacement. Some of our suppliers have switched from UPS to Fed EX. We are issued a RA# to return the product by the manufacturer. UPS always has a pre-printed call tag & just attaches it to the box & goes. We had a pick-up from Fed Ex & they want you to fill out all the paper work,A real pain. We called the manufactuer to get all the info needed & was told that we should not have to fill all this out. They said it was because the driver was too lazy to do his job. Just wondering if any body else has had this happen?

It's funny you mentioned it. We almost had a problem with Fed Ex tonight. We had some jobs that had to be shipped tonight on next day air. The Fed Ex place closes at 8:30. My dad left with the parts at 8:20. He walked up to the door as the employee was locking it. She opened it and said "That better be all". My dad said no, and that he had a truck load. She finally said okay and took the packages. I would have told her "No problem, I'll ship them UPS".

Fed Ex bites. Had a powersteering pump sent from the company next day air, due to the fact it was on the sherriff's patrol car and they needed it. Unfortunatly, they sent it Fed Ex. It shows up a day late. It has a sticker on it saying it was late because the company had put our zipcode on the label wrong, and they would charge us $10 for the extra handling. I look on the label, and the zip code was correct. I called our distribution center and got the extra fees taken care of, and the next day air fees removed. They won't be sending anything else to me Fed Ex.

Our company uses them quite often and are constantly delivering packages marked Overnite AM in the PM and not changing the rate. The distribution mgr spends a lot of time sending Fed-X letters to get the rates changed due to poor service. OTOH our UPS driver has a very bad attitude and is always complaining about his job and sometimes handles our packages on the rough side. It's the going way of the work force - I show up if you give me a paycheck and there is no pride in a job well done.

I agree BV, there is not much pride in a job well done anymore. Our UPS driver is a nice guy. He knows all of our names here in the shop and always talks to all of us. The same thing from the Fed-Ex driver. This happens at the place where I have to go to drop off packages because they won't pickup.

ahh FedUp know many of em and well Its not their fault . Think of the manotamy of it all.

We ship a lot of stuff at work, FEDEX and UPS. If I had a package that had to be somewhere at a specific date/time I would choose FEDEX. FEDEX employees that we deal with provide good customer service and are usually polite. Seems like UPS misplaces at least one package a week, takes them a day or two to track it down.

I had some tough times a year or so ago and FEDEX was right there to make it worse. I switched to Airborne and have been very happy. I have also switched five of my customers to Airborne, they are happy as well.

I dont use either Fed-ex or UPS very often, but I'd choose Fed-ex over UPS for my needs.
UPS actually means United Pulverising Service. #ad

Purchased extra insurance with FEDex and then had to file a claim because something penetrated the box and rim wrecked a good computer.

FEDex denied the claim based solely on the statement "we don't think any of our equipment would do that".

I quit shipping FEDex several years ago.

FEDup with FEDex!!

I feel you guys frustration as I have worked at UPS now for 24 years. It is a changed place from when I first started! We used to be given the time to help customers with their needs and problems. Now, it is all that we can do to keep up with the Big Wigs demands for more production. While they now sponser Dale Jarett and his NASCAR deal, I had to drive a worn out (26 years in service!) old ford powered delivery truck. You risk your life every time you have to drive it. Is my attitude poor? You bet! BUT... . I personally try to take care of any problems that arrise when I am out delivering, regardless of what my managers say. This may sound corny but I have a saying... "A package is a paycheck". Without customers, I don't have a job!!! Remind your carriers of this and they might change their tune. Chris

Thing I don't like about Fed-Ex and I'm not sure if it is company policy is this- when other delivery drivers pull in my dogs approach, the drivers pull out dog biscuits, the Fed-Ex drivers pull out Mace. These dogs don't even bark, they want biscuits. Don't know if the F-E drivers have ever sprayed my dogs, but if I ever catch them you can bet who will get sprayed next.

Mace the dogs... that S. O. B. would have a size 11 shoe up his A$$! I do the dog biscuit thing too, lots of vendors have dogs. Love me love my dog!

I know a gal who flys for Fed-Ex... BAD ATTITUDE, and knows all! Shes was telling me that the company has had "fellow employee" problems since a strike a fews years back. Management loves the scabs and... you know the rest!

I ship at least 100 FedEx packages a year and been doing it for 10 years or so. So many that the driver recognized my dog at my fathers house one day. Ive have nothing but good to say about them. Maybe I've just had good luck. They have software that you can get to print labels on your computer and provide self sticking labels for free. None of this costs any extra. I've actually changed citys on rapid notice - called fedex and they rerouted for no charge. Done this more than once but you have to call before they get into Memphis to make this happen without interuption.
I'm lucky however as the company I work for has an agreement with FedEx to extend the rates to thier empolyees personal accounts. Gives me a rate of around $4 for overnight letters. All packages are automatically insured for $100.
I have had great results with UPS as well except 1 computer they lost. Shiped 20 packages of mostly junk and 1 computer. The only box that did not make it was the computer. Imagine that.
If you don't care if it ever gets there use USPS.

RedNut, speaking of Castaway type service I received a letter, though the Post Office, several years ago half burned, soaking wet in a plastic bag. Sticker on the outside of the bag said that the letter was found in Los Angeles after the mid air collision of an Aero-Mexico 747 and a private plane. How's that for service?

UPS' drivers mostly seem like ok people, but their management and policies SUCK. Ever try and ship a gun back to the factory or to a gunsmith? HA. Good luck. Their official policy is to ship handguns "next day air", due to the high employee theft rate. However, most of the idiots at the shipping points don't know a handgun from a pool cue, and will try and charge you next day air prices for rifles and shotguns. I had to shove a printout from their own website in their face before they'd let me ship a rifle back to the manufacturer via ground.

Dan,

I believe that is incorrect about there being a law requiring handguns to be shipped next day service. Check with the BATF.....

UPS has a 40% employee theft rate on certain valuable items, such as guns..... this was a direct quote from one of their security folks I worked with awhile back. One of their idiots at the Oakland depot swiped my custom . 300 Win Mag that was being shipped back to me from the maker, and decided it'd be loads of fun to go play with it. When it arrived, after a series of events you wouldn't believe, I cried. It was ruined. If someone tells me how to post digital pic files, I'll post it if anyone wants to see it. (and YOU can cry with me... again... )

UPS refused to do anything about it. It is the most expensive gun I own..... been rebuilt 3 times. sighhhhhhh
