What's involved in getting one post 9/11? Are they worth it if you're not dealing a lot????? Also how much Moola $$$$$$$

Thanks

I'm sure others will have more knowlegde on this subject than I, but I don't think 9/11 had anything to do with it, it was the 1994 Omnibus Violent Crime Reduction and Law Enforcement Act (Slick Willie's Crime Bill). The cost went way, way up after that, you must do "X" amount of sales per year to be classified a legitimate dealer and you open yourself up to possible (probable) search anytime 24/7 from the BATF.

for what purpose?

You can get a "Curio and Relic" FFL, which has a bunch of limitations, for a two-page application and a $30 fee that lasts 3 years... mine arrived 12 days after application. :)

With it on file, a firearms dealer, or wholesaler can legally ship me any gun that's on the C&R list, right to the house, saving me the markup/transfer fee that a gunshop owner would have to charge.

If you want the "wideopen" FFL, that's a different story, but I don't know how far different... . here's a couple of links:

Another benefit of the C&R FFL is that companies like brownell's and midway will give you a break on their prices. If you order stuff from them regularly the license will more than pay for itself.

Go to the ATF C&R page and see if the types of guns you wish to buy are listed. If not or you just want to go into the "business" then a class 1 FFL will set you back $200 for the first 3 years. $90 thereafter every 3 year renewal. If you go class 1 then you have to do it as a profitable business, i. e. money making venture. You will need a safe to store your inventory in. you will need your "bound" books. Hopefully you are not in the city limits. More hassle likely than being out in the county. You will need to be fingerprinted. Get the local LE dept. to do this since you will need to turn in a copy of your application to notify the CLEO of your intentions anyway. You will need a building permit from local gov. to show proof that you are allowed by law to open this type of business. After you mail in the app. then the ATF will review it, set up an appointment to inspect you and place of business. The $200 is lost whether you get approved or not so beware. Make sure you dot your i's and cross your t's. Really it's not all that hard to do. The AFT fellow who came out to interview me back in 95 was a decent person. I have yet to be inspected since. Keep your records up and don't let anything get stolen and you will do just fine. Email me if I can help.
