TDR, saw a post today about the Edge EZ not being worth the bucks. PLEASE throw some feedback my way. I was saving to put this on the truck, because I want a small and simple power increase. I thought this was it. Let me know what you think!!

Well, it made a difference on my truck. I recently got a 0237 code and read where an EZ might set this. I removed it and my MIL went off. So I contacted Edge about it. Mind you now this EZ was purchased in 2002. They gave me a RMA number and I sent it off to them. A couple weeks later I got it back. They tested it and installed the latest software on it. My cost? The cost of sending it to them. Not bad after over 4 years of use I'd say. And yes I did notice a difference after I took it off. There wasn't as much get-up-and-go without it. Also I lost almost 1 mpg without it. Others may have different results but for a mild upgrade I'm more than satisfied with my EZ.

Edge Ez Worth It?

I like how in the late 90s powerstrokes when u hit the pedal it will put u back in the seat. I heard edge ez would do this for the cummins and i was dissapointed that it didn't. Hardly even noticed a difference in truck acceleration.

If you really want one you can find one it the classifieds for like 250 or so. But if I were to get a power adder it should be the smarty. 9 different programs vs 3, it is updateable on your own, checks and clears codes, enables high and 3 cyl idle. Much better IMHO than an EZ. It gives around 60 hp or so but it FUELS WAAAAAAAY BETTER :-laf .

Edge EZ

I had great luck with my EZ on my '99. If you can find one used with receipt buy it,otherwise call Bob Wagner and purchase a Smarty. Much more versatile,no wiring, incredible low end power and no de-fueling at higher RPM's. At all upper settings, you're going to need transmission/clutch upgrades though.

Go with a Smarty or an Edge Juice w/Attitude. The Juice is on the fly adjustable and gives you a full set of gauges in addition to 120hp.

For $200+- it's been a great investment! I noticed it immediately although the Smarty is a nicer programmer! Bob W. let me try one & it was very impressive especially when towing. JMO but I think the manual transmission guys get a more significant improvement on performance though...

To me, the seat of the pants meter is greater for the manual guys I guess is what I'm trying to say. JMO though, others may vary & often do.

like everyone is saying the smarty is awesome. I am trying to sell my ez and save up for one. but the ez does make a difference.

200$ for a boost fooler,70 hp and a little more timing ...

well worth the money ...

most of the people who are upset do this as their first mod and expect to go out and start doing burn outs and rolling the smoke ...

it delivers what it promises ...

THANKs a ton guys!!! My last question-I have had atruck with both an auto trans and a manual as well(see sig). JMO and my feelings alone tell me to stick with the manual. I was wondering if I will need a clutch update with the EZ?

If you are sure all you want is a little better performance and a mile or two better MPG then the EZ delivers. Plus its pretty safe for the rest of the components on your truck. That's what sold me on it. I run it on level 1 towing and level 2 empty for mileage. Level 3 gives a little smoke and a little more kick on take off than level 2. Its a great beginner chip and you can always sell it if you decide to move up in power. But you need to buy gauges if you don't already have them as it will increase your EGTs with an HY turbo (auto) when towing to temps that need monitoring. I've switched to an HX and rarely see above 1100 now.

I have tried a edge ez, superchips, edge comp [awesome], edge drag comp is very awesome, but If I were in your shoes... ... I'd start by getting your fuel system upgraded. A Holley Blue pump from Advance Auto would do the trick... . I'll even explain how to hook it up if you want..... just pm me. Then add gauges... . atleast fuel pressure & pyrometer. Then call Bob Wagner & order a Smarty & you'll have a whole different truck that you will be looking for excuses to drive because it is just that great.

I have an 03 ,250hp version. My EZ was very impressive. I towed on level 2 and played on level 4. It will get a bit better mileage. I'm currently trading it in for a Edge with Attitude because, changing the jumper with a pair of twezers sucks. LOL But you will most certainly notice a jump in power.

The EZ does a good job adding power, but the smarty does a better job. I just put my EZ in the classifieds and bought a smarty. If I knew then what I know now I would have bought Fass, then gauges, then a Smarty. On the flip side the EZ can usually be bought used for $300 or less where the smarty is $650 (new, not too many used ones out there) You could buy a used EZ, run if for a while, sell it and buy a smarty later when youve got more coin. Its hard to loose money on a used EZ.

Loved My Ez

The ez is a great power adder about 70hp . They are cheap got mine for $250 . I have sold it and got the juice with add . To do it all over again i would have got the juice 1st gauges and power. JMO
