I will be taking at trip back east from Ventura, CA on I-40 toward Nashville,TN this spring. Will be towing a 12,000lb. rig. Has anyone had experience with this route? Grades, places to avoid , etc. . Have never driven this route before. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

there is a lot of rough stretches of road and a lot of construction but other than slowing you down a little it is ok no bad grades anywhere watch the weather around I 17 in az can be bad along with grants to moriarity in nm

Just as CKelley1 said outside of rough areas & construction it is pretty much straight forward. I have driven many times with the RV & have not had any problems. .

The stretch from Amarillo thru OK City can be nasty due to the highway lane expansion joint distance, but that will depend on your wheelbase, speed, and a bunch of other factors. Some have problems. Others say, "Problems? What problems?"

There will be no rest areas open in Arizona.

I forgot to mention the last time we went through OK City the road was a bear, really rough but they may have repaired it by now. That was 2 years ago.

I-40 from OKC to the Arkansas line - lot's of rough road and construction.

Arkansas I-40 is in great shape except for a few miles around
Russellville.

Tennessee I-40 is Grrrreat.
