just wanted to hear some coments on what it feels like and what u guys

have to say about the excelleration of the 6sp when u BOMB ur trucks, never had the chance to ride in a BOMED 6sp!! But it wont be long before one is in my driveway!!!! Just want a heads up!

Slow shifting... notchy feel... feels slow... 4 gears to get through an intersection...

Wouldn't trade it for anything! Oh, and my truck is stock with 4. 10s which should be similar to the G56 and 3. 73s.

Maybe I'm just abusive with my NV5600, but slow shifting is not a characteristic I would describe it as. Or at least it can be shifted rather quickly. Granted I don't do that very often, and at least double clutch on downshifts in order to keep the synchros sounding happy. If I intend to race, I'll rev it up a bit, and start in 3rd gear. Then there's only 3 shifts to deal with. I have the 3. 73 ratio though, so that may make a difference.

I've not driven a G56 equipped truck so I can't do a comparison of the two.

What dose the power feel like? dose it set u back in the seat and make it hard to get back to shifting?

Not unless it's somewhat bombed. This is my first manual truck and it's an absolute blast to drive. If you plan on adding H. P. then the 6 speed is much cheaper than modifying an auto. After a better clutch, it's just about unbreakable unless you go crazy with power.

The NV5600 is nice. Once broken in can be shifted fast..... Fast enough to bark all the way up to 5th gear with the stock clutch (new-er clutch, no bombs yet and shift WAY before the RPM's drop any). However, this is a BIG one here. . I think I jacked up my pressure place and/or pilot barring good enough to have a nice vibration for a long while. I plan on changing out this clutch this month and will post pictures of any damage :)

the stock clutch held up to a Juice + attitude well. Once I upgraded to the hot juice, the stock clutch slipps. So up to 100hp and you should be fine for atleat 20,000 miles.

The G56. I took one for a test drive. Well, you can't tell until the transmission has some miles on the syncros. But it's very firm and assuring shifts. Didn't attempt to shift fast at all, but it does feel nice.

I had the 6speed and my biggest complaint was finding a clutch to hold back power. I was running a TST and a BD Super B single and I could burn a South Bend FE up in a hurry. So, next step, dual disk. Not really my cup of coffe. I bought my 06 with an auto because of the trouble with the clutch on my 03. If you are looking from a performance view the auto is the only way to got. I do miss my 6 speed dearly, but I wasn't content at 400 hp. I pushed the 500 mark and the clutch said no. As far as shifting, you can shift it very fast if you get good at it. Heck, I took a 9600 lb truck on 35" tires with 399. 35hp to a 16 sec 1/4 mile. You can shift em fast when you get good. You will notice a slight grinding sound if you shift it really fast, but when I changed fluids to Amsoil that pretty much stopped completly. Bottom line, my NV5600 was a great trans that was a blast to drive, but my performance limits were higher than the clutch gave viable options for.

I love manual transmissions, but if I had to do it again I'd buy a 48RE equipped truck, preferably with a 4. 10 rear end.

I have pretty good power, and yes, I can definitely say it pushes you into your seat. The only problem is you run out of rpm. You need to shift in the blink of an eye. I think I'm switching to Amsoil or Redline next time I service the trans so it will shift a bit quicker.

I think a bombed 12v that can be revved to 4000rpm would be more fun to drive fast.

If you're buying a G56 truck, I think it lends itself better to quick shifting. At least the one I took for a test drive did.

I have a South Bend Street Dual Disc. It holds the power and is super smooth. Hopefully it will put up with some abuse.

I've had a 04. 5 auto, hated it, got the 05 with a nv 5600, and now wish I bombed the automatic.

Pain in the *** to shift quickly, and with the 500+ hp I'm making, I think a Suncoast Auto or DTT auto would be perfect... .
