Deezal Man... the ETH has serious limitations if you plan to Bomb beyond 350 HP or so. Apparently the VP44 and possibly the ECM are the controling issues. The ETC does not have these limitations. If you plan on adding a set of injectors and a low end fueling box, such as the Edge EZ, you won't have a problem with power upgrades, except maybe the clutch. If you want to go beyond that, I'm not sure that anyone has the solution right now. Marco states that his reprogrammed ECM can do it, without pump mods, guess we'll see when the testing is done. With this said, I can tell you that the ETH with stock injectors and the EZ box really hauls the hay and most would probably be satisfied to stop right there. If you do a search in the products forum under "dyno numbers" you'll see about the ETH Bombing scoop.

Hope this helps

Scott W.

RKohn,

I plan to stick with the 285-75-16's on Alcoa's.

My driving habits are (50%) 70-80MPH highway driving, (50%) city traffic.

Don't think the rear of my 98. 5' has seen anything heavier than 5K-6K lbs. Every once in a while it sees 3k in the bed. (stones)

My usual vehicle requirements:
Unless I'm driving an econo car. .
When I depress the go pedel... I want to feel results.

If its an automatic:
I don't want to wait for adequite fluid coupling to build. A properly designed TC and transmission does have this problem... As my M3 is fully capable of demonstrating.

When pulling a hill, the transmission should be "smart" enough to realize it needs to DOWNSHIFT. OR better still, NOT shift INTO overdrive!!!

BTW: Whats up with that anyway??

Am I asking for too much?

Deezal Man,

Read what you said. Sounds like you've been shiftless long enough. If DC built a slushbox worth a crap this discussion wouldn't even be goin on, but you know how it really is.

Automatic - Just means that it shifts so you don't have to, not when you want to, sometimes when you don't want to, but just so you don't have to.

Get back in control now. There's an ETC/DEE out there with your name on it. Go for it!!!

Oh, and about that crazy, short, fat, ugly thing...

Just realized it was my reflection in the monitor. #ad

Oops, too late. What silencer ring? (More fun than my 98 SST)

I have a 96 2500 4x4 auto. It is fully modified by Auto Wurks Diesel. Paid for and a real pleasure to drive. Very powerful and when I hit the power switch, what a treat

... like wiredawg,i drive in D. C. traffic,as well as open roads and choosing the 6speed was the BEST decision i've made concerning these trucks... . good luck!!!. tom

Install a DTT TC and VB, a VA or EZ or a set of DD2's and a boost module and el. Then you will have a new truck. I would try that W/Wiper wire shielding thing. If you have ever watched your tach twitch 25 rpm or so while idling you will see that there is a lot of stray electrical interferance with the electronics in the Doge.

Here's where I'm at,

Called around a little to see about test driving a 6 speed. Naturally no-one has one.
I'm also considering a DTT TC, Injectors, and a black box for much less than what I'd be dishing out for new. Just might satisfy my desire of firm shifting. With the extra money... maybe I could buy an exhaust brake right away... I don't know. . I'm not sure if I want to lay out an extra $6K-8K just to have a 6'r. My biggest struggle would be paying tax on a new truck again. . Granted the disc brakes would be nice as well. . Anyway, thats where I'm at. Still confused, but better educated... I really appreciate everyone's opinion... . thanks

Mike

Deezalman, I have one of the last 12 valvers.
I love the hell out of it. DC would have to impress the hell out of me to get me out of it... . AND give me a good price on the new one and acceptable trade in allowance!!
I would like the rear discs, and 6 speed, but I wouldnt trade in mine to get it.
Mine's payed for too, and that's another thing to think about.
(wife drives a 99 and is "looking at" a new car..... UGH)
I'm planning on driving this one 10 yrs, or more.
~on the other hand~
If you really want it... GET IT!! That's why I have my 98!!
Diesel Wurks have done 5 speed conversions... . I dont see why a 6 speed conv. would be a problem.
I saw 6 speeds on sale for $3500. 00 on another page. (brand new)and you'll have to go for a cluch.
IMO You'll pay for the 6 speed. Either the dealer will not talk on the 6 sp price, or he/she'll tell you yours isnt worth too much. If you do your homework before going there, you should be OK.
Good luck
Eric

OK, Here's the latest.
Finally found a 6 speed to drive. WOW!!, I keep thinking I forgot to release the e-brake on my 98. 5 after that.

Only problem, I'm looking at about 10K difference between my truck and the new one.

Solota money.

I'll keep you posted.

DITTO on the HO and 6speed!!!

BIGSAINT... . Thx for the "E" mail... needed to get my out of the sand #ad

I agree with your power upgrades except you could easily go past 350 hp with some propane on top of the other upgrades ?? NO ??

I am soon to find out!!!!! #ad

It will cost about 3-5k $'s to properly bomb the 98. I'm going to try the Cummins 505lbft ecm. You will need a standard trans engine data plate numbers as they won't sell one for an auto.

Deezal Man:
I am in a sinular situation only worse. I have a '96 auto 4x4 2500 with a little over 85k on it. The dealer says he will "give" me $13K for it and "only" wants $36+K for a new 2x4 3500 h/o 6 speed CC. (no Leather)

KWIKKURT... good to hear from you again, thought that you might have been taken hostage or worse #ad
I like propane for cooking my food, I'm a bit skeptical(SP) on using it to cook my Cummins #ad
. Might try Nitrous someday but still have to recover from my last last Bombing extravaganza(again, SP) #ad
Keep us in the loop on the propane, which set up are going to use ?

Deezal, You haven't bought the truck yet? Come on, you can't hide money. Go get you a HO #ad
(ETH). You think it's fast stock, you ought to drive one with a box on it.
