Okay guys while installing my Espar heater today we took out the front fender liner. When we went to put it back in the little plastic deals that I bought would not work (they broke, too brittle). So does anyone know the part # or a good place to get some stock replacments?? Right now the fender liner is held in with zip ties and a prayer. . I got the crappy ones from Napa but they may have some better ones I could not find.

Thanks for your help.

Thomas - thanks for the part # I am off to get them this am.

Terry - I would have called but I left your # at home and I was at the girlfriends house. I am off to Wasilla to finish the install today so I will just have to bite the bullet and get some from Dodge.

Terry, Please don't tell me it takes some $100 dealer only rivit gun to install those rivits, looking to do the install next week so the heads up is appreciated. Jeff

I could not find a rivet gun to install them, when my truck was in for a new injection pump they used their gun and fixed a couple of them.

good luck

I got some stainless bolts at the local lumber yard along with some big flat washers and self locking nuts for mine. Worked great!! Also alot cheaper and user friendly.

rivet tool & rivets

You can get what you need at Mcmaster Carr. The rivet gun is called a Quick Set rivet Gun , model # PR 75. I don't remember the part number of the rivets and the label on my bag doesn't show it. I bought mine to attach my bed liner to the back of the bed. It works great. Do a search on the upper left corner of the MC home page for the rivet gun pn and it should show you were there at. Sorry but I don't remember the price I paid. I buy a fair amount of stuff off of MC and their quality and service are really good. Plus they carry a lot of hard to find stuff. Good Luck.

Remember the good old hardware stores of years gone by? There are still some around. I would think there might be one of those up in your neck of the woods. I bought 2 of those plastic rivets for 1. 39 at a discount auto parts store. I got them for about 10c a piece at the local hardware store.

POP RIVETS

Hello There all! I was t dealer today to collect those same wheel well liners, deleted item :( . One of the mechanics said that before he knew there was a special pop rivet type tool, he used a pair of end cutters along with a pair of pliers. I understood the technique to involve holding the end cutters against the face of the inserted rivet, pushing rivet in, then pull out "plunger" with pliers "real hard" untill fully expanded inside and stops, then cut off "plunger" with endcutters. Sounds easy i'll try this weekend (bought extra rivets @$1. 40 each :( for practice and screw ups).

GOOD LUCK!

This is my first post, I hope it helps. You all have been a GREAT HELP to me. I've been searching and reading for a couple months now. Thank you all for the super informative stuff:) :) :)

Be VERY careful not to whack yerself in the chops using the two-tool method. :( It's easy to do; don't ask me how I know!

I got my Marson rivet gun at the local auto-supply place here in town, and also cleaned out their Marson rivet clearance stock.

Well I went to the local dodge parts dept at 08:00 and asked for some of those rivets to hold the fender liner in. Guy says no problem, how many... I say 12. . he says hold on, you may want to know how much they are first... I say okay how much... $1. 89 each... I say give me 12 and I want a discount... so the guy gives me 12 and says pay the bill across the hall. So with my $23 dollars worth of rivets I go see the service manager and ask him how to install them. He tells me it takes a special rivet gun. I tell him that I don't have a specail rivet gun. He says no problem. .come with me. Back into the bowels of the garage we go and he finds the body man painting a harley fender (long story) and gets the rivet gun, turn to me and says... bring it back tomorrow and everything will be fine. I say thanks and away I go.

The moral of the story... all service managers are not jerks... .

Auto Body Toolmart

I bought the Plastic rivet gun in a kit with some rivets from this site at a good price. Marson Klik Plastic rivet kit - 4208. Addition rivets are available in a 20 pack - 4256-50. They are inexpensive.
