Clearance needed for Fifth wheel trailer.

Tow/Haul

Do any of you guys have a RBW Li'l Rock'r hitch and if so how do you like it? My Dad just bought a new/used 1999 Ram and the previous owner had this hitch but sold it with his fiver. It would be nice to get the same one since the holes are already there as well as the Rhino that was sprayed around the hitch plates.

When we purchased our 1st 5th wheel in 1994 the dealer installed a Li'l Rock'r hitch, moved it to our present TV in 1998, which now has 180,000 miles on it.

They stand behind their product! A few years ago the head developed a crack at one of the side to side pivot points. We were staying at a CG in San Diego, CA at the time, called RBW they sent a new “redesigned” head by o’nite freight to the Rv park. No charge, didn’t even want the old one back to verify the crack, just took my word for it and use the old one for a boat anchor.

So for my money they are “A OK”

May you have fair winds and following winds!

I had one on my '96. It was a good hitch. The only problem with that type of hitch (sliding locking bar instead of jaws) is that it can stick while unhitching. Fix for that is to back into it to get the tension off the bar. Other than that I never had any problems with it. It had enough side to side "rock" to easily hitch and unhitch on uneven ground.

I used one for the last five years, never a problem except for the "sticking," which didn't happen all the time, and was easy to correct by backing into it. The mounting rails left with the '95 Ram I traded in for an '05, but I still have the hitch if you are interested; it's in good condition but has some rust where paint has chipped off.

I used the hitch in a short bed. As far as I can recall I didn't have any problems making sharp turns if I was moving forward; in reverse, jacking the trailer into a tight spot, I took the back glass out of the truck. I actually was watching closely, and when the front of the trailer got within bout an inch I hit the brakes; trailer rocked, tapped the back glass and it turned into a spider web! Live and learn. I guess the best hitches for the short beds are the sliders that move back when you make a sharp turn; I haven't looked at one yet, so I don't know how they work. My new truck is a short bed also, so I just plan to use more caution!
