My friend purchased a '07 6. 7 that we took on a road trip this summer. Since it was his truck, I paid for fuel. I noticed that I could not put in any more fuel in the tank after the automatic fuel shut off shut down the pump. I can sneak in three more gallons in my 04. 5 if I take the time. What is different about the '07 tank?

The vent tube isn't at the highest part of the tank which causes the nozzles to shut off early. You can add more by taking your time but, what a pain... right?

Here's your answer..... Vent tube Mods from GDP

It basically caps off the OEM vent and relocates the vent hole in the tank to the highest level which enables filling it to the brim.

So does this mean the 07s have a relocated vent tube? I watched my friend's 07 tank for a good minute and the fuel level never fell down like it does in my 04. 5. I understood that the "extra" space in the stock tank was to allow fuel to expand in hot weather. I live in Phoenix and only top off if I am going to drive, never when it will be parked right away.

My buddy did the tank mod and only fills it to the brim when he's headed to Baja and will be driving immediately.

I don't know that it's relocated. You can look under the truck at the fill hose... it should be right next to it.

You may be right about the expansion but, the vent would take care of that full or not. The GDP kit just allows you to get though extra few gallons in without standing at the pump for ever.

Just for the record I just move my vent tube to the top of the tank and it added 8 gallons to the tank. And it fills up fast !!!

My new 07 fills to the neck all by itself. I can see the fuel right to the top when it shuts off on it's own... ALl my previous CTD's you could squeeze and squeeze...

I Moved The Breather Tube To The Top. Added 5+ Gallons And It's The Best Thing I Ever Did. Accurate Fills For Mileage Checks. I Can Drive 80-90 Miles Before The Needle Ever Leaves The Full Pin. Highly Recommend It.
