Here is the other thread for the info.

Brian

you are correct DBrickel, a cap made from billet aluminum to replace the junk plastic cap that covers the fuel filter.

We are still in the design process and the color is switching very swiftly from red to blue.

At any rate it will be ported for easy monitoring of fuel pressure if you so desire and will be sleek and sexy.

If it's gonna work it may as well look good!

Thanks for the reply. Yes I'm interested. No real preference on color. Will These use the oem filter or an after market one? Also has a price been established?

Now I would be seriously interested in a nice blue valve cover :D . However, from speaking with someone else on this same topic it doesn't sound like a cheap item to produce. This particular gentleman did some research and and came to the conclusion that it would cost well over $400 to produce  .

Jeff, Did you decide on what kind of wrench would be used to turn the cap (My vote is machine a 1/2 inch square drive like on your oil filter wrench so we can simply insert an extension in it)? Does any one know of a fuel fitting (for the pressure tap) that will spin with the cap when servicing the Filter?

If you use an electric sender, couldn't you just disconnect the wire and then the whole sending unit would turn and be removed with the cap. I used an electric on my '96 gasser and never had an issue with it.

OEM filter

That's gonna cost ya, lol. I have a source for aluminum bought at scrap weight, but $400 would be a stretch. I'd have to have some serious commitments (deposit) to even attempt it. Design and programming time are the same whether it is for 1 part or 100 parts!

I have no way of producing a 1/2" square blind hole without shaping each one manually ... ... ... ... ... you don't want to pay for that, lol. The socket is cheaper, works double duty on the oil filter and the cap will look very cool with the flutes machined in ... ..... or I could just pop an 1-1/8" hex up in the middle like the OEM piece :D

This is my first post. I've been a member for some time now. I've learned a tremendous amount about CTD from the knowledge and experince of the TDR members. My hats off to you all, this is a wonderful site.

As for this thread, I would like a blue fuel filter cap with a C engraved in the top, with a fuel pressure port. I could not believe the stock one was made out of plastic. :(

Also I need the oil filter removal tool with the engraving to pls. I missed the other threads untill last night. :{ I hope I'm not to late for the engraved ones.

Please let me know where to send the money to and how much.

Anodized and ported seems to be leading the way, followed closely by natural aluminum and ported. Seeing as how ported is ahead in all finish choices, I'll port and plug all of them and let the user have the option. The guys wanting natural finish could have that too so they could do a bright polish for a couple dollars less.

Here is the assumption ... ... ... ... . I am assuming that everybody is just looking for color. Under that assumption, there is blue anodizing under the hood already and blue would seem to be the natural choice so it matched.

If I did blue anodize and machined a "C" after anodize to make it stand out in bright aluminum ... ... ... ... would y'all be into that?

That would be great! I want one:D

I would like the blue anodizing and the machined in C afterwards! I would also be interested in a Blue Valve cover.

JHammonds: I sent you a message to find out if you have nay of the oil filter wrenchs left that are engraved

Thanks in advance

I hesitate in responding to this thread and will no longer respond to the filter socket threads. I incorrectly assumed when I moved this whole deal from the 3G forum to the parts/accesssories forum that it was cool.

It appears that I have been floating in the gray area of violating TOS. I don't want to lose my membership because I've learned so much here and gained some friends in the process.

I'm not exactly a vendor, but do have the ability to make ideas become reality. I wasn't certain where that put me, but after close examination of the TOS, I'm probably in violation.

The fuel filter cap will be blue, will have engraving, will have the flutes milled after anodize for contrast, will be ported and will be slightly more than the filter socket.

Either keep an eye in the classifieds, or PM me for status.

Thank You

-Jeff

P. S. I've delivered what I said when I said and have been doing this type of work for over 20 years ... ... ... . I'm no Johney-come-lately.

Jeff,

Going by the price and the quality of your filter wrench, you provided a service to us more than anything else. I would not consider you a vendor, more of a friend. I doubt that the profits from the wrench will enable you to retire.
