Filter housing delete

Let me start off with its been a while since I've been on here. I no longer have the mega cab like my username would suggest, but I did recently purchase a project truck so I'm back.

My project truck has a FASS system on it ( I have no experience with these at all) but from what I can tell the factory fuel filter system is completely bypassed. If I am correct does that mean I could remove the factory filter housing from the block and remove the factory fuel lines going to and from the tank?

If your the factory filter housing is totally not connected (no "goes-into and no "comes-out-of" lines) then you should be able to remove it from the block. As far as removing the factory fuel lines... the "from the tank feed line" must be (?) running into the FASS (unless the tank has a bottom fitting installed go direct to the FASS inlet) and you certainly wouldn't want to remove the return lines to the tank.

Thanks for the reply. I plan to get a better look at it all this weekend while I have transmission out. The previous owner really made a mess of things and I’m trying to do what I can to straighten it up.

I am not sure if makes a difference to you or you have already thought about this but when we installed an Air Dog 150 and 1/2 inch fuel lines on my truck we decided to leave the OEM factory fuel filter housing and route the fuel through it in order to continue to have the benefit of the fuel heater. Yes it puts a fuel line diameter restriction in the system but I have not noticed any issues because of this. I leave a Baldwin 7 micron fuel filter in the OEM fuel filter housing as a fail safe in the event the Air Dog has a failure.

I'm doing a FASS 165 TI install myself and I just took it off. My thinking is I live in NE Texas it doesn't get too cold and if it does i'll add some additive to my fuel. I have to figure out how I'm going to handle the hanging wires.

I put a fuel sump in when I did my Fass. I left all my stock stuff hooked up. If my Fass ever fails I turn a few valves and change an electric plug and in 5 minutes I’m rolling down the road again.
