OIl residue on Amsoil Dual bypass

Dane I was a sucker and bought one of these http://www.thebeartrap.com/bt800.htm

Haven't changed my filter yet to see what it's done but was impressed by the strength of the magnet, could probably lift 20 lbs. 40 bucks is a heck of a lot better than the $120 for the Filter-Mag, I don't see how being any stronger than the Bear-Trap would be any advantage as it would lift a nail from 4 inches.

What sold me on it was they said that particles smaller than the micron rating of your oil filter passing though the filter media would enlarge the filter passages eventually increasing the particle size that could pass though. Don't know if it's true but it sounded good.

I've used strip magnets from vehicle door signs wrapped around the hydraulic filters on some of my tractors and upon tearing the filter apart there was a pretty good deposit of fine material where the magnet was. The door magnets were wimps compared to this Bear Trap one though. These guys have a bunch of magnetic filtration products.

I had the MagneStrap(heavy duty version) purchased from JC Whitney ( Stk. # 71PX0573P). Never did get around to cutting a filter open. Think I accidentally left it on my old '82 F-250 when I sold it. Haven't been able to find it since then.
