Final 2nd Gen post. 203,000 mile report
On monday My Y2K will be going home to someone else's drive way. I have 203,000 miles in the last 42 months. I thought I would give you a synopsis of my costs and repairs. The truck averaged over 1000 miles per week. I would say that 50 % of the miles were towing. The overall MPG would be near 16 MPG. I had a low of 9. 74 MPG and a high of 20. 9 MPG. The high mileage was within the past month!!
maintenance and repair history.
30 oil changes
15 fuel filter changes
450- 500 fuel fill-ups
It wears its fourth set of Michelin tires (1 set of A/S 3 sets of M/S)
The fifth track bar was purchased last week.
The fourth lift pump is in the unopened box (Make offer)
Front brake pads at 90K
Right hand battery at 92K
Sunglass door at about 110K
Pinion and tail shaft seal at 125K
Rear brake shoes at 140K (Never seated right)
Rear brake shoes and drums at 170K
Left hand battery at 175K
Pilot bearing started dragging at 190K ( new clutch, PP, input shaft, and pilot bearing. Clutch looked like new)
Diff fluid change ever 50K
Coolant change every 50K
Transfer case fluid every 50K
Transmission fluid at 100K
Set valves at 100K
It has the original ball joints (still tight), original front rotors, original 5th gear, and every light bulb it was shipped with.
Everything but the track bar and lift pump, I would consider maintenance items on a 200K truck.
I sold this truck to a friend for trade in value. I was able to drive the truck for about 8 cents per mile depreciation. I had three people that wanted to buy it, including the dealer mechanic.
I just hope my 04 3500 SRW comes in next week. It has been in the rail yard 90 miles away for over a week now!!!
