Does it hurt mpg? Horsepower? Torque? anything? on a 3rd gen of course! I have an 03 2500 HO ctd. Only took 2 min to remove it! Just would like long term results/mpg testing or dyno results.

any negative effects would have to be marginal but the people faces when i pass them by are well worth any loss that i might suffer. i would not worry about it. my 03 had 45 miles on it when i removed the ring (3 miles at pick up and 42 miles home)

In my experience (with my 04. 5), running with the SR increased city driving MPG... not much, but it is notable on paper.

I took mine out with less than 100 miles on it, then replaced it at approximately 80k. And while highway mpg was unchanged, there was about a 0. 5mpg gain driving in the city... I have no explaination or theory as to why...

I pulled one in my 98, then put it back in because the whistle was driving me crazy while towing. Or was it driving my Wife crazy, who in turn drove me crazy

The day I bought my truck, I piped it and pulled out the SR. Not much difference there. When I installed my AFE, I actually heard a lady at Wal-Mart say "that thing sounds like an airplane" as I passed by. On the highway when pulling a load up steep grades, some of the passengers have to talk louder to be heard over the loud whistle. But it's worth the head turns from other people.

MAybe it was just me, but when I took my ring off the first time, I had only my intake on, and it felt like I lost power. Not really any difference in mpg, but it just felt a little more doggier. Now with the mods on my truck, it sounds good, No difference in power or mpg but it didn't feel as doggy.

Perhaps its just me
