After years of putting up with the drivers side door speaker (infinity) working for a week, not working for a month, on and on, I finally took it to a stereo shop and had em rip everything out and put in 4 new speakers and a new deck and amp that also plays my ipod. Why the he11 did I wait so long?????

Yeah - I just did this too in January. I started by putting in a different cd/receiver that controls my Ipod. Then I found out my front passenger door speaker was blown. LOL - I knew that thing was crackling a few years ago. I thought it just stopped crackling - never took the time to check. I guess it's been blown for awhile. LOL So I put in 4 new speakers, too. Good for another 11 years!

Ended up replacing the head unit, speakers and added an amp back in '09 when I had the cab emptied out for soundproofing. Made me wish I had done it sooner as well... . #@$%!

Yes, 6x9, threw the box away. Had to cut the speaker feed wire and solder on connections to work with the new speaker. I believe any 6x9 will work, but I'm not a car audio expert by any means.

Do you have the model number of the speakers? Were they a 6"x9" speaker?

Just as an FYI, if you have the infinity system, you will also need to replace the head unit as it does not have an amplifier built in...

Otherwise any 6x9 will fit or any 5 1/4" and most 6 1/2" with an adapter. You can figure out what works if you go on over to crutchfield for example, their wizard will tell you what fits and what doesn't. I went with 6 1/2" speakers on my truck, fit no problem with the adapter plates.

Good luck! Oo.

I was just wondering if your Raido was an Infinity system. Because i was told i cant put regular speakers in dash or doors these are special spk. do you know if that is true. The Dealer fixed my broken heat vent under worrenty. Now the Raido spk. jump side to side.

its not under worrenty & thay wont fix it.

You're probably better off just replacing both the head unit and speakers with aftermarket ones. It would be cheaper and you will get better sound anyway. The problem with the factory infinity system is that the amplifiers are in the speakers...

If you want to keep everything stock, I am sure you can find someone willing to part with their stock speakers as I am sure there are many who have replaced them with aftermarket units.

I replaced my standard non infinity head unit (had a casette player) with a infinity head unit with Cd player from a 2002 truck. It was plug and play, sounds a little better than the standard non infinity head unit so it must have a built in amp. .

Just replaced the EX-wife's speakers and head unit... I found out that the driver's door speaker was fine, but had a little corrosion from water that would make the intermittent problem happen every few days.

I replaced them with Kenwood 6x9"s and it sounds great!!! Just thinking to myself that I want to do the same in the 09 now cause the sound so good!!

I upgraded my Infinity cassette player with the Infinity cassette CD player. 10 years ago! I don't like trying to hit the tiny little buttons on the aftermarket stuff.

I had an Explode in my beater car and pulled it, I couldn't get the lights to stop flashing (soo coooool, dude!) and I'd usually hit multiple buttons when changing stations. I "upgraded" to a factory CD player for $13.

Infinity speakers can be bought cheap on eBay, I got a set of 4 (all checked out OK) for $20.
