Hi guys,
This is a follow-up on my last post which stated that I had replaced my fuel sending unit, and it didn't fix my fuel gauge problem.
After purchasing a Chrysler shop manual, I took it back to my mechanic yesterday. The problem was the connection at the fuel sender module on the tank. There is a red safety tab on the connection which insures that the connection does not become disconnected. The problem was that when the safety tab was installed, it caused the plug to expand just enough to break the connection. Since the red tab is a secondary safety feature, (the plug also has connection snaps which hold it together) we removed it and the gauge began to work.
The gauge only went up to 1/4 tank at that time. (The tank was almost full) The mechanic then loosened the retaining nut on the tank and wiggled the fuel sender module to free up the float, and the gauge went to full. He tightned the nut, and the gauge works fine now.
Hope this helps.
