Body sitting on Truck, installing new gripes..

Floor Restore Kit will be applied either tonight or tomorrow night. Put it on when floor is brand new, helps a lot.

Heat in shop in real time..

Finally got the system so that we can monitor and change temps as needed. The Company President, the CFO and I have the ability to change temps from where ever we are.

The top temp is for the lobby, Thanksgiving Day I checked and it was dropping. Figured someone had been in and left the doors open that separate the shops from the lobby / office area. Had the on-call tech run over and sure enough that was exactly what happened.

Real nice to be able to check the building from 65 miles away when it is -15 below and the wind screaming on a Sunday...

We have two furnaces that run on natural gas and three large waste oil furnaces. Waste oil burners carry both shops, if there is more than 2 degrees drop in five minutes the hot water heat will kick in from the overheads and level things back out. I have been years helping to get the building heat reliable, affordable and to have built in redundancy...

Very nice. Built in house eh? No juice brakes? So anyone can use it?

I think you’ll find the new regs allow air brakes on light trucks without any test or certification. They’ve become too popular and dependable to force people into juice brakes for lack of license. At least that’s the position of RI commercial enforcement.

Yes, they do allow air brakes now without an endorsement on Non CDL trucks but the GVW sticker on the door frame has to be under 26,000 lb. This new Truck is probably 33,000 lb.
Over 26,000 lbs GVW still requires a Class 2 or “B” certification.

Floor restore kit applied, body hooked down, New galvanized lift gate goes on next. And can’t forget the mud flaps!!!!

Shoot, I would be wearing my heavy coat in those temps. A dead give away I worked outside for 40 years in Az. The park we are at has quite a few Canadians and at 47 degrees they are walking around with lite jackets and shorts . Meanwhile Dave is bundled up like nanook of the north in a blinding snow storm and frigid temps. If it's below 80 i'm cold, if it's above 80 i'm hot.

Dave

I had the heat in my shop at 60 degrees Sunday, and that was too warm after the car thawed out. Just in a tee shirt and jeans...

You probably would not last 2 minutes in the Az. summer :D. Be down to your birthday suit :D. I was amazed I was still ok when in Minot when it was -2 and up, guess I climatise fast when I need to, I am back to Az. now that we spent the summer here.

Mike, that temp monitoring system is fantastic! I've had that option on my garage door opener for over a year now and didn't mess with it..........after seeing your screen shot, I'm going to update it and get it working. I know alot of folks don't like this new tech but it can save your bacon against freeze ups!

This is the Thermostat that drives it. So I have four wi-fi enabled thermostats in the building. The two that run the power shop and trailer shop already have a secondary heat option...designed for a house with radiant heat in the floor and then baseboard as a secondary. If the radiant can't keep up then the second stage turns the circulator on for the baseboard.

We hooked the waste oil furnaces up as the main heat and the control valves that allow water to flow into the shop overheads as the secondary heat option....works pretty good.

I can change the setpoint, schedule, etc. right from home or where ever I may be....

If anyone wants to create a system and you want it to work like mine you must get the exact same part number thermostat...and I mean exact....

I have had those same Thermostats and system in my house for several years it is awful handy.

Deck extension fabricated, now the liftgate treadplate will be installed. Much safer with the extra room for your feet especially in the winter...
