Never heard of mixing #2 with gasoline. I know in the log trucks at work they mix kero with #2. Remember that requirements very from state to state and that might effect quaility. For example in New York centane ratings at the pump are 40. Here in PA they are for the most part 45.

Fuel Gelling

Yes, I've had the exact same problem. I called Stanadyne & they said, join the crowd. A mining co. with 17 vehicles was totally shut down. The problem is the ULSD is not being cut with kerosene & your additive will not make up for poor treatment by the distributor. ULS kerosene is not available or the distributors are too cheap to use it. I talked to Bosch corporation, to a gentleman that is an expert on the VP44 pump & he said cut the diesel with no more than 10 percent kerosene & my advice is to use a good additive, I trust Stanadyne. Cut it with 10 percent & that should be the end of your problems. As for the fuel pressure myth, the VP44 needs only positive pressure. The 5psi minimum that is thrown about is a dirty filter spec. so that some pressure will be at the filter outlet with the pump pushing through a plugged filter. So you don't have to worry if you have 2 psi at your filter outlet or inj. pump inlet. Look what a Duramax has, 0, same pump, just no restrictions. Why does Dodge have this nightmare fuel system? Because Dodge though it's customers did not want to push on a manual primer. The Bosch expert said electric transfer pumps have been for the most part nothing but problems on more than just B series Cummins. Shine on, Randy

Could you have just gotten a bad load of fuel, perhaps with some water in it? Especially since it started running better when that tank was gone?

Over night temps here in Mich have been between 5-10 above zero for the past two weeks and day time is usually under 20, coldest days have been down to minus 5-10, windchill of -20 (but windchill does not effect truck or fuel). I have a FASS and no heater and never plug my truck in (never have) and truck sits out 12-16hrs a night while I am at work. I use 8oz Stanadyne PF (both old formula and new USLD "compatible" formula) and 8oz MMO in each tank and have never had a gel problem. I have been down to -20 with this additive "formula" and never had a problem.

I have found ice in my water seperator in the past when draining though so maybe u got some water.

just my 2 cents/hope u figure it out,

According to Hess and Sprague energy they are cutting the fuel with ULS K-1 here. If you look at the specs even when cut the cloud points and CFPP are not that great as compared to the old stuff

I also had one of mine gel up a few weeks ago, with 16oz of power sevice in. It was only down to 0. In past years, I have started this same truck, not plugged in, with no power service at -18. 5 and never had any gelling problems.
