Picked up the new truck on 5/27 from Tommygun at Lou Fusz in St. Louis. Sorry I missed you Tom, hope your closing went well.

New truck is 3500 quad, SRW, SLT, 6spd, 4x$, LWB, 3. 73 LS, patriot blue, upgraded interior, fold flat, trailer tow, protection group, etc.

Had a good drive to get home (690 miles). Took it easy for the first 100, kept speed at between 55 to 60, made three stops to cool the gearset. After that ran at 65 for the next 100, then between 60 and 70 for the rest of the trip. Great ride, QUIET TRUCK:) Plenty of power for me, but I'm coming to this ride from a 92, so take that for what it's worth.

With all the discussion on mileage and the 600, I kept track on the way home. Reset the computer before leaving the dealer (starting odo reading was 4 miles). Computer started out at 15mpg, and within the first 100 climbed to 17. 5. Hand checked mileage at first fill up, matched the overhead. Didn't reset the mileage and ran to second fillup. Computer read just over 18, hand calc said 19. 2:D . Even allowing for variation in fill technique (tried to fill it the same each time), those are some good numbers for out of the box, not what I was expecting. We'll see if they hold.

Barry, I'll be getting a pic for you, thanks again for the EP:D

Gotta go update my sig...

Congrats

Congrats on the new truck.

I'm impressed with your milage. Mine didn't really start moving up until 2,500 or so.

I'm sure you will love it.

My public thank you to Barry also. He got me a EP which I used in March. Kudos Barry and the snowmobiling invite still applies!

the employee choice program was extended till the end of the year,so yes you can. if you are not an eligible buyer you would have to have the number with ec on the end (for employee choice).

Pat,

My new truck, which is similar to yours (except it includes a sport pkg) will be in this week. Another tommygun special. Where did you get the break-in info? How long were the gear set cool down periods?... and is it necessary? I've got about a 800 mile return trip to get back to Frederick MD, so I want to do it right. Any other tips would be helpful. W/ my '01 I took it easy for the first several hundred miles, but they were all local.

TIA

Tom

Tom:

Check this out: http://www.ring-pinion.com/tech/techind.html Look at the New Gear Breakin link.

Good site for info on running gear and stuff, I basically followed the instructions listed in the article. Right now the truck is parked in the drive, waiting for my stull running boards to deliver. I live on 3 miles of dirt road, so until the boards and flaps are installed, it sits:{

Got a brother that lives just outside of Frederick (Middletown). Nice area. Good luck with your new ride, Tommy was good to work with, as well as the others at Fusz Dodge.
