Best gearing on DRW for carrying camper

This is a real splintered thread!

Dave C, sorry you were faced with selling your long time car! It'll be like that for me too, but I hope I have a while with it yet. In fact I'm thinking about getting another drag car in a year or 2. I really want a RWD conversion Shadow or Daytona to go class racing with. Id love to set a record and maybe get a NHRA Wally.
Dave H, I was through the club thing too. I never let them influence me. My car is kinda modified stock, the judges don't know how to grade it lol. Really think about what you want to do and stick with it. ANY muscle era Chrysler is worth bucks. I can't believe what they're dragging out of yards and fixing!
Doors for a '73 shouldn't be too hard to get. Hit a big Mopar show like Carlisle or the Nats and you'll find all you need. If I have to scrounge in a hurry, I use Tonys parts, Tony D'agostino in DE. That's the guy that's been on Graveyard cars (I hate that show!) There are plenty of other south western suppliers as well

Regarding travel plans for this summer, we're going back down to Dollywood in late Aug. love it down there!

Wayne, thanks for the condolences. Dollywood sounds like fun. Didn't they have a massive fire in that area a while back ?.

Jim, when are you going to be in Williamsburg? I am only about 50 miles from there.

Kirwin;
My wife and I are going to be in Williamsburg in late Sept early Oct. We will be staying at American Heritage RV Park from Sept 22 to OCT 4 and than heading for home. PM me if you would like to meet up and get together for a day. I would enjoy that.

Dave, I second hitting one of the large Mopar meats such as Carlisle, or the Nats, etc. Unfortunately, Carlisle was July 14 weekend. I have sold a lot of cars but have yet to get rid of my 69 GTX convertible. Bought that in January 1984. Actually, I traded a 1977 MG midget for it. The MG was in excellent shape, the GTX was not. I have restored it twice. I have use that as my daily driver for a while, since I had to get rid of everything but one car. It has been over 20 years since I last restored it. It needs it again! Kind of ashamed to drive it, since I know what shape it used to be in. I don't have a garage to keep it in, it sits outside under a cover. Many folks have complained to me about that. Tough, it is still my car.

Onto the original thread, never met another TDR member. I need to get new badges to put on my new truck.

Oh yeah, as mentioned, definitely check Hemmings too.

I have belonged to the north east hemi owners association since 1982. I really like that club. Very family oriented, kind a like this one. Have not gone to any of the meets for many years. Just don't have the time.

For the last 20 years I have not taken my GTX to any shows. I have taken it to cruise-ins. I got real tired of someone telling me what was wrong with my car, when I never asked them for their opinion. So, I would always just ask them for the money to correct it. Interesting the kind of responses I would get.

Oh yeah, if you have any antique auto car club events in your area, you could check there for leads on new doors. If you are on the East Coast, Hershey region antique car club does a very large show in early October at Hersheypark in Hershey Pennsylvania. The largest on the East Coast.
