I finally timed my truck,15. 5*. what a pain doing it with a broken timing pin. Whom ever had this truck befoe me not only broke the cam gear side off but he/she broke the side that you pull on outside the engine. But its finally done I think I spent more time trying to find my barring tool than actually timing the truck. I sure can notice a difference in upper end power but noise wise its sounds the same, and a little less smoke,I think it has better out of the hole performance now:rolleyes: ... ... ..... Rick

The tools to set the timing are available from Snap-On and Miller but will set you back around $200. I usually recommend a person takes their rig to someone who has the tools as it is usually a one time deal for most and doesn't warrant owning the tools. Will cost you about the same though. Problem is finding someone who will set the timing to other than Cummins specs, Cummins and the dealer won't. The job itself is easy unless you run into a problem like Rick's.

I'd like to mess with the timing on mine too, but don't want to buy the tools. I don't really have time to take anyplace, & there isn't anybody close around here that could do it anyway. If anybody wants to rent me the tools, I'll pay ya $25. 00 plus return insured shipping! Or give me a price on the tools, I'll use them & sell them to somebody else. Kinda like the KDP jig, use them & pass them on.
