thanks for all the compliments, it makes those hundreds of hours of work worth it, its just a shame that i have to let other people drive the truck at work, the clutch got smoked and the parking brake got burned up both in one week, go figure... .

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but how did you connect the 2x3 rails to the frame under the front of the bed, closest to the body?

The mount setup on my 05's subframe is lacking.

Very impressive work

Ben

Beautimus!!!!!!! Best looking and functional one I've ever seen!! I admire your craftsmanship and dedication to finishing a TOUGH job.

I missed this when this thread was originally posted. Like everyone else, I would have to agree that is one heck of a sweet bed. I like it better than the B&W beds!

WOW :--). That is something else. You should be dang proud of that. I bet you were tickled pink to finally be done with that. IF someone ever did hit that bed I would probably :{. No worries though, you'll be fine. Once again, helluva job Oo.

very nice job, i am also a demolition contractor, been thinking about doing the same thing to my 2500 but not sure how it would look. kinda off topic but what else do you have for equipment? are you just strictly demo or demo/site work etc?

I'm amazed every time I look at the new posts. (can't look w/o going back to look at the pictures) You put a lot of thought into that along with the workmanship.

I've done some projects (with wood) that get the "WOW, how did you do that?" from lay people, but now I'm on the other side of the fence. Not being experienced with steel, I wouldn't know where to start.

You should be VERY proud of yourself. Oo.

I know I'm way off topic here, but I noticed that you have a HMMWV (Hummer) in your garage. I work on those everyday and would love to have one for a toy. By the way awesome work on the flat bed, you got serious skills.

hey, sorry i haven't been on here in a while, thanks for the compliments, to answer a couple of your questions: the 2x3 rails are connected to the body mounts on the front, there are 8 mounts made of 3/8" plate with 1/2" bolts through them, but they run crossways with the bed, where the body mounts are strongest, i put all of my mounts going different directions so the bed won't shift side to side, the mounts in the middle are also 3/8" but i used 3/4" bolts on them, they're directly under the gooseneck hitch, and the frame is sleeved for those... . also to answer about putting a bed on your 2500, look in my picture section on my profile, i think there's some pics of my '03 single wheel truck with a custom bed on it, hope this helps...

Another weldor here giving you a fabrication score of a perfect 10

Im going aluminum on my bed... simpler design . . with store bought boxes...

you sir. . are a true craftsman...

Ill try to take some pics of my welding rig that I built so we can look at each others stuff for ideas

fab,,,ulous!!!

That thing is sick, I can weld and fabricate a bit, and that thing looks like you logged in some serious time on the grinder, hope you had some good hearing protection on, congrats on a piece of artwork.

That is truly incredible, beautiful and functional. :)

You absolutely rock!!

You should go into business doing that type of work for people. You could even have your own show like the chrome shop mafia or Orange County Choppers.

Do you have a goof ball son or dim wit brother to keep the viewers interested? If yes, you have the potential for being on TV... :-laf

Congrats on a one of kind work of art.
