Well, I finished my auto to manual swap tonight. Glad it's done. It was quite a job for me but I'm pleased with the results. Cruise and reverse lights function as they should. Many thanks to those who have done it before me and posted their experience here,

how much did the whole swap cost you and what did you have to do..... I just put a ATS Automatic in mine but someday I would like to get a gen 1 and if it comes in automatic I would like to do the swap... .

Cost depends on how you wish to do the conversion. I bought a new nv4500 and rebuilt 241DHD transfer case as I did not want to do it again in the near future, at least I hope. Those two pieces were $3000 from standard transmission. Clutch from Valair was about 600. I bought a bunch of parts from a truck being parted out in Michigan which now I realize I did not need as I ended up going the "new route" and will sell the nv4500 and TC. If you wanted to use a used trans and TC the cost would likely be half. I'm very pleased with the results and I had a "built trans" with an ats converter but I suppose it's personal preference to have a manual in the end. I cannot believe how much power is lost in the auto until the tc locks. Today, I loaded it with a cord of redfir and pulled two cords on a trailer through the mountains without riding the brakes like I use to. Anyway, I would do it again and have all the parts for someone else to perform it.

Scott, can't thank you enough for your helpful advice and yes Jim was very helpful also. This is simply one of the clubs/associations I've ever been a member of. Hopefully I can help someone else down the road, I feel all I do is"take" info at this time. Anyhow, thanks again. Short of severe left leg trauma, I'll never regret doing this conversion. The manual is great and I find myself wanting to drive it instead of my car in spite of $4. 75/gal diesel.
