Competition Fire Rings

I recently talked to somebody that said they put a shallow . 040-. 042 groove in the middle of their . 120 fire ring groove so the fire ring has something to bite into, and it seals better. Have any of you heard of this technique?

This will perform a mechanical load/pressure style lock. Some of the large diesels have done this for years. Hope to see you guys soon.
