I've got a set to install but am having a hard time deciding where to mount not only the air compressor but the gauge and switch in the cab. There is very little room under the hood to mount the compressor. In the cab, I have the triple pillar mount and the cubby hole is filled with the heated seat controls. I want this install to look as stock as possible. One idea I have is the steering wheel pod with the switch relocated in the dash. Anyone have any other ideas? Pod on the dash is not an option.

Check out Autometer.com site, they have different mounting solutions. I'm thinking about the same airbags, and I'm going to mount the gauges down near the shifter boot.

I have the Air Lift air-bags but I would think the 2 compressors would be about the same size. I mounted my compressor under the back seat. The gauges hang from underneath the dash.

I have a single compressor and tank from my 2001 I just installed with new bags for the 05. I put them on about a week ago for the trip I'm currently on hauling my Lance 1161 camper. I weighs in about 4K with groceries. No water this time because it's too cold. I have driven from Seattle to Indianapolis for a conference. The wife is flying out Wednesday, and we're headed to Utah for about a two week vacation. Just got home from deployment (five months in Iraq) and need to get some ME-and-HER time!!!

On my 01 I mounted the compressor on the aft end of the transmission/transfer case skid plate. Put it in the same place on the 05 but less room. The 01 had plenty of room and was well protected from the elements being behind the transfer case. The only drawback is the compressor has to be removed to service the transfer case. The tank for the 01 was mounted to the running board rails, but I don't have boards on the 05. I mounted the tank on the drivers side underneath behind the rocker panel. I put the control under the dash on the passenger's side. With some lighting (yet to be wired) it will be clearly visible day or night. Put it in the same location on the 01. Wife's job while we're on the road is to watch the air pressure.

So far it forks well. My right bag leaks down after a day's travel. I have to wrench the air nipple down a little tighter on the top of the bag. The nylon seal isn't holding air well enough. I like the install of the bags on the 3G much better than the 2G. Installation was real smooth and pretty clear. Bags (other than the slow leak) seem to work as well or better than the 01.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

put my compressor for my air horns up on my passenger side fender, right behind the battery, its a great place, keeps it warm and dry and it is relatively level.
