I have electrically installed my isspro transmission temp gauge (single pillar mount). Took me longer than I thought, but it's in and hooked up to the dimmer (thanks to all the info I gleanned from this forum). Looks great, now all I have to do is make it functional. I have to punch through the firewall and I'm not sure where is the best place to do this is. I've searchedthis forum, and poked around under the dash, but so far I'm undecided. There is a small (maybe two inch) opening straight up from what I believe is the transmission cable (auto). This is to the left of and up from where the steering column exits the firewall. This opening has some foam or something over it. I'm thinking this is where I should drill a hole through the firewall to exit my sending unit.
My concern is:
Is this the best place?
What size bit works best (if any of you have done this already)
How do I insulate the hole afterwards and protect the sending unit wire?
I'm going to do the Mass Diesel line as to placement.
