I am installing new gauges that santa brought. Geno's suggests going through the steering column boot with the egt wires and the boost tube (6-speed truck). I am afraid of them getting damaged by clutch pedal and steering column movement. Has anyone else found a better way of getting through the firewall where the wires and tube are less likely to get damaged?

Thanks,

Carl

I went through the boot like Geno's suggests. Be careful as the boot will tear easily and I believe it is double walled. No interferance with the pedals - just tie the wires so they don't get into moving things. Good luck.

How did you get through the double boot? I was thinking of pushing through a pull sting first, then pullilng the tube and wire back through.

Thanks guys,

Carl

How about going through where the auto transmission cable boot is? On your 6 speed it should have the same rubber plug but without the hole.

I made a small loop on a piece of fence wire and pushed it through, tied the other wires and tube to it and pulled them through.

I went through the boot where the hood release goes through (I think its above the clutch).

No problems with mine.

Carl,

I have put a egt wire through the firewall as wellas the wires for connecting my snow plow. I have a snow plow prep package and dont know if there is a special firewall mod only for this . NEWAYS Looking from the engine compartment below the master cylinder there is a rubber area on the firewall that is round about the size of a silver dollar. You can unsnap the dash below the steering column and see directly through themess of wires to the fire wall from the other side and should be able to see the same rubber area. I used a cordless drill and drilled from the cab side. Sorry no pics :) Good luck

Thanks Hoagie,

I think that is the same hole as Klenger pictued above. I looks like a good

solution. I orginally did not like how close it was to the floor board on the

inside, but on second look I think it would be a good solution. I may end up

just drilling my own hole where I want it, put in a rubber grommet and then

silicone it shut after the wiring/tubing is run.
