Hey guys I may be the first person to get to replace a 6. 7 engine. My buddy just bought a C&C with the Aisen and he only had about 15,000 miles on it. His employee was told to service it and so he drained the oil. Then someone told him to quick run to the hardware store and in his hurry he forgot the oil was drained. He took off down the road only for it to lock up a 1/4 mile down the road. They took it to the dealer but they said there aren't any engines available yet except the ones being installed in trucks on the assembly line. They also said there is not a parts book available yet for the 6. 7. To get an engine off the assembly line and install it will cost him $15,000 so he's thinking about just bringing it to me and getting me to rebuild it. Do you guys think its better to get a new engine or just rebuild it?

I'd personally go used and try a boneyard or ebay... ... there should be some 305 hp 6. 7L's out there somewhere.

I dont think you could put a 5. 9 in there. Too much EPA crap on the 6. 7 that wont just hook up . Plus all the rest of the stuff. Open her up and look ,should be rebuildable.

The 6. 7's I thought have been out since 02? (Just in other applications and mainly overseas). Its the pickup applications and emmisions that is new to the motor.

sorry

I didn't realize that so maybe this is the first engine in the pickups to lock up because of no oil. At least I hope this doesn't happen very often but regardless it needs fixed. :{

Stroke and bore is different from the commercial/european models. It may work but kind of doubtful since all the emissions pieces were designed for a specific engine spec.

Just find a good 12v, 24v, or common rail truck thats wrecked, take the motor and get the computers to go with it... ... or just buy a new 5. 9 and throw it in with the new elcronics

I read that the "6. 7" has been around since 2002 and yes in commercial/Europen applications. All the internals (longblock) are the same from what I understand its just the emmisions parts that are diffrent, and im betting that those didnt get hurt very badly.

IIRc, when the 6. 7 was announced for the light duty trucks the specs were posted on the board here and the stroke and bore were different than the commercial engines. Blocks may be the same but I believe there is a significant difference in the accessories and mountings also.

The stroke/bore differences could cause the emissions to not function corectly and just go limp mode. Its a gamble when dealing with this amount of electronics and changing ANY of the specs. Doesn't mean it wouldn't work but it could be an expensive lesson.

Accessories and mountings could be problematic also. It doesn't do any good to have a block that is identical and you can't mount the FP or AC unit to it. Once again, it may work fine but I would definitely do a lot of research before buying a used commercial engine and trying to get it to work. :)

Getting the 5. 9 to work with the new electronics just gives me nightmares. The specs are just not the same that the ECU is expecting and as sensitive as these things are its a good bet things just flat won't work.

Trying to insert an older motor with older electronics and make them communicate correctly with the chassis computers is another nightmare. :{

Could be an expensive fix. ;)

So is running an engine with no oil... ... ... ... ... ... ... . :{

***. should not be any problem since the block is the same. You just have to move all the moutings over to the new block. As far as the internals, I have no idea, was it a Dodge or Cummins dealer that you wen tto about the parts? I thought Deere was bad, sometimes we have to go to the online public look up to get numbers but they are out there, just depends on how hard the guy on th eother side of the counter is willing to work for you.
