all i can say is ouch, hope everything is a ok in the upper engine, id be leary if i found that damage down low... ..... :{

wes

also i see that Cummins have got rid of the oil cooling nozzels that are lodged in the crank journal, and went the external design, like on the M11/ISM engines, very good idea.

Did you find any depris anywhere else in it? Is the hone/rings and align boring really needed on that low a mileage? Figured with what damage was done to the crank (photos)thats all that was needed?

Yes I did find debris elsewhere and the reason I'm honing and align boring is just to make sure it gets done right even though it might not need it.

I was a little worried that the valves were bent so I asked the machine shop thats doing the work on the block how to check. He said to pour parts cleaner solvent into the intake and see if it leaks very much through the valves. It only dripped through very slowly so he said its ok. Would any of you happen to have any information on how to put this engine back together? I ordered a parts book but it isn't here yet and I am ready to start putting it back together. Oo.

Some shots of the pistons and a good shot of the front and side of the turbo would be sweet. I think a picture of the turbo would help some here see what needs to be done to remove the silencer ring.

Cummin right up!

I'll try to get you some better pictures of the pistons and crankrods once I put them together. Hope this is what you wanted. :)

Thank you for the pics. If you have a second, a picture of the side of the turbo inlet that shows the pins/dowels that hold the silencer ring in.

In the literature on the 6. 7 one of the points is a New And Improved Con strained Oil Pan, which they say will not allow resplash and thus forcing all oil providing lubrication from the oil pump.
