Oil Temp Gauge

Lift pump question???

I just purchased my third Ram however, it is my first 24V. With the Auto xmsn and 4X4 what is the recomended first move to add power without breaking all the rules on the warranty. I have been told to start with a 4in exhaust and go from there. Lookin' for advice!

This is what I would do..

Yank that silencer ring! Then if you want more

volume from the turbo, take out the little oval

tube that connects the airbox and fender, and for

the best sound short of the Psychotty Air, buy an

Amsoil air filter. The factory paper-pleated one

is an excellent "muffler".

Then order a set of gauges to monitor boost and

EGT, preferrably pre-turbo. Mine are on the way.

I ordered AutoMeter Sport-Comp 2 1/16th diameter

boost (0-35psi, #3304), EGT (#3365), EGT probe

(#5244) and the A-pillar 2 hole mount, #15203.

Next would be a fueling box or injectors. .

in the same boat....

I'm in the same boat as you. I got my truck 2 weeks ago, and am wondering what to do first. Here is a list of possible firsts.

1) gauges - but this will not give my want for more power satisfaction.

2) Bully Dog stage 2 injectors - kinda risky without something done to the auto transmission first

3) edge ez - same as injectors, and not the box I want

4) TST 10 level box - box I want, just to much for transmission, and voids warrenty

5) 4" exhaust - doesn't really do that much but make it sound better

6) DTT work on transmission - have to get adjusted when I get injectors, and/or box, and nothing for power, or sound

7) "Big honking air filter" thing - need to figure how it hooks up, and look into it more.

Everything I have listed is stuff I want to do to my truck after 36,000, except the edge ez. This is not the box I want but the future is wide open. I have read the "Proper Order for BOMBing" from Mr. Jannetty many times over, but you guys know how that BOMB bug is.

I already have taken out the slincer ring, but am looking for ways to keep my warrenty safe for now.

You should throw in a fuel pressure gauge too, it gives you some peace of mind and is fun to watch, it instantly tells you what your right foot is doing to the go pedal.

Congratulations! No doubt you'll get a wide range of advice and suggestions from your fellow TDR members. The best piece of advice and recommendation I can pass on, is one that I was given myself, when I joined the TDR almost 15 months ago... ...

ESTABLISH A BASELINE!!

It's all about setting and managing your expectations and without a baseline, it's real hard to determine if you're really getting as much bang for your buck as you were hoping for. Good luck and welcome aboard... ...

My first performance move was a K&N in the stock airbox, but now I'm gonna try the "big honking air filter" deal. The K&N helped a bit for sure. Then later on (after gauges and other stuff) I added the 4" Jardine. It made a big difference. Not just sound, the truck drove totally different. That's it so far. Mine's set for commuting and towing heavy, not racing. Not sure what or when my next step will be.

If you don't want to spend the money on the 4in exhaust just yet, lose the CAT and the muffler. . or change mufflers... I had an extra 3in muffler around so I installed it. . sounds great...

Gauges sure are a piece of mind. . but like stated above it will give U a good base line of where U are starting from... and U will need them if any BOMBing...

There is going to be a Texas Rally in Sept... it would be a good place to ride in some different trucks. . and try some plug in boxes. . someone usually has a few that they demo. . by installing them in your truck...

I am kind of waiting until they get the MAD ECM's finished. . I think they are going to be pricey. . but worth it. . (If not. . I'm leaning toward the PE Comp. . )

My truck is about the same as yours, but with 5 sp... Still has the paper tags..... (At about 1000 and 2000 miles it seemed to pick up... more zip from 2200rpms up. . she'll turn 3000 this weekend. . ) Good luck...

Bryan...

(If U think U have the bug bad now... U better stay out of other BOMBed trucks. . it only gets worse... . ) :D :D

I know what your talking about. I rode in Okie's after he and TxRam installed his injectors, and that left me saying, "And now I got to drive this???"

Won't be able to make it to the Texas Rally, I got school, and work. I would love to make it, just don't see it happening this year.

P. S. Maybe this thread needs to have a poll so folks can vote.

A few of you have mentioned a silencer ring???? where is it located? and how hard is it to remove? A 4" exhaust was going to be one of the first projects ..... and probably will be in the near future, but I think I will start with a pillar gauge set and see where I'm running at stock then go from there.

Who might have a good pillar set with boost, auto xmsn temp, and egt?

any other advice is greatly appriciated :)

TDR search engine

You really should check out TDR member Dave Fitz's personal website, (located from the main TDR web menu when you log on), where a variety of modifications to his truck have been comprehensively documented with loads of pictures, plus there's also a wealth of information on TSBs too.

My personal prefs are for the digital
SPA digital guages, try searching in the P&A forum under guages, you'll be spoilt for choice. Good luck!
