I have run Amsoil since about 8K miles and mine uses (loses) some oil between changes. I am going to switch back to dino for another 10K or so to see if that helps. Almost identical to the first posters' description.

I switched to RP at 10,000 mi, now at 13,000mi, I check the oil level in the morning after sitting all night. Hasn't used a drop yet. RP is CI-4+ rated, and I have used nothing but syn oil for 15+ years in my 4 diesels, after a 10k breakin period. I change syn at 12. 5k intervals and test the old oil.

With ANY HIGH QUALITY Synthetic oil, one should always wait at least 5-6 hours after running to check the oil inorder to get a GOOD reading, as it takes time for the oil to drop down to the oil pan.

Wayne,

I did the same thing as MRudolph. I waited overnight before checking the oil level. It did use a couple of quarts in 10K miles. I'm not complaining either just stating the facts as they relate to me alone.

I am still going to switch back to dino for a while though, then switch back to Amsoil and try it again.
