My wife and I were out today, When I had to make a hard left turn. I was at a stop when I started to make the turn. The truck started making a loud noise and it got hard to turn. I pull over, only to find power steering fluid running on the ground. I made it home, But I cannot tell where the fluid is comming from. Every thing is wet, the pump, and hoses. Has anybody had this Happen.

Thanks

On my 97 the seal on the output shaft of the steering box that the pitman arm is attached to went south with no warning:mad: Had to have a friend tow it back to the house. It took my 10 hours to change it:mad:  It did not spray fluid everywere. I would suggest if possible to pressure wash the whle area and then put some fluid in and run it to see if you can see something. Good luck.

Thunderball,

Sorry to hear about the mishap. :( I use valvoline synpower which is a semi-synthetic. No problems so far. Good luck.

It Happened to ME

My gear box split and you could only see the crack when it got hot. But it ran fluid all the way home. Called for a tow and sent it toh the dealer they replaced the gear box and no problems so far. BTW my truck only had 2100 miles on it when that happened. Now we are @ 16000 problem free.

Well I went to Wal-Mart and got Power Steering Fluid. Check the nuts on the side plate, Two of the nuts I could turn a little, So I put the fluid in, and started the truck, tryed to turn the wheel. Man did she grone, and the fluid ran out almost as fast as it went in. So this afternoon my wife followed me and I took her to the dealer. She been gone 4 hours now, I miss her. :( :( :( I'll let know when she come back home. :( :(

Well the service dept call me today, If I understood him right. They have replace the P/S pump, But they had to order a Chuck,?

What the heck is a chuck, the guy that call me said he though it was some kind of gear. ?
