 I was in Home Depot the other day, came out and noticed two nice scratches up my bug deflector and across my hood. Boy was I hot. Nobody around to blame either. Somebody must have had some lumber in the bed and backed into my hood. Insurance deductible is too high for them to pay so it's out of my pocket to have them buffed out. John

That sucks, it's bad enough when your truck gets damaged but when someone does it and then takes off that makes it even worse.

yeah i have a nice scratch in the metal by the passenger tail light where someone backed a trailer into me. got to love finding that one out on your own. got an estimate for like $550 but im not worried about it right now.

This system seems to work. I was taught this by an ole timer.

When you go to the dealer to pick up your brand spankin new truck ... ... ... ... ... make sure you take a concrete block with you.

Before you ever get in and turn the key ... ... ..... throw that block in the bed as hard as you can ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... get the first one out of the way before you ever leave the lot :)

My dad gave me my first one. When I drove it over to his place for the first time (hadn't told him I bought a new rig), he told me he was going to ease my mind and go out there and kick a dent in the door. He didn't do that, but two or three weeks later we were loading up to go do some repair work and he let a 4x4 fall against the truck bed right on the corner of the board. Put a nice ding in the side of the bed. Didn't get mad, I bought the truck for working and it was bound to get a dented bed. Now it's got quite a few, though that first one sticks, because that's when I got confirmation on what I read here about the freaking thin sheet metal that DC uses.

Now in the case that somebody put a dent or scratches in it and drove off, I'd be hopping mad, though my guess is whoever backed the lumber into your truck was complete oblivious to having done it.

my first scratch was my own damn fault. . 2 weeks old, drove the truck to 7-11, and parked in a parking spot where there was an overhanging deck, that hung over the parking spot, just a touch up front, and it happened to be just low enough that the nose of the truck scraped under it, and I got a nice sized gouge in the top of the chrome grill surround. . chipped and flaked the chrome paint lol. . Only way to fix that is to get a whole new surround, and Im too cheap for that.

aghhhhh!! that would kill me. . heck, I got a really small door ding last week, and think I need to trade it in now. . You mean you actually put things in the carpeted bed of your trucks??? What's next? Actually off roading in the DIRT? :-laf

Sorry about the dent. Mine got a nice ding on the tailgate and a rock thrown threw the passenger window by vandals a couple weeks ago.

I always say "it's only new for a day" :D

My first dent and scratches all came when I used 4wheel drive the first time.

Now, I know what your thinkin.

This was not planned. Went to the store and while the wife and I were gone a tornado struck the area. With all the trees down, we had to go through a field, hence 4wheel drive and then we were able to get with in a 1/2 mile of the house. The truck was one week old.

I walked home to get the old beater Chevy and the chain saw. The next day nice scratch and dent on the passenger side, and covered in mud. The truck surprised me with its ability to go in the mud and not get stuck. The first time I had a Dodge in 4 since 1978!

Had mine exactly 1 week. Turned too sharp coming out of a self-serv car wash and hit one of those 3 foot high poles. Nice scratches over the rear wheel. Talk about upset at myself!

Horrible horrible. . Was the pole damaged beyond repair?

Much to my dismay, I've got you all beat. 1st day I had the truck, coming home from work on eastbound service road of LIE, b**** to my right comes over into my left lane in order to gain enterance to Expressway. She hit my right front fender with her d/s mirror, then stopped when she realized she made contact. Claimed she never saw me. HELLO WTF. Dent in r/s fender by C emblem, r/s wheel center cap damaged, r/f front bumper dented, r/s headlight fkd up, bumper cover scratched. I didn't know if I should cry or kill her. Truck didn't even have 100 miles on it.

I would have shot her on the spot, gone to court, pleaded insanity, and then sued her estate for the repairs and suffering you had. Then sold your story to the movie industry, made lots of money, invested in a Dodge dealership, retired, and got a new truck every month for life to drive. Simple isn't it? :p

I am a registered handgun owner in Suffolk County, NY, however I would have had to been either going to a range, or hunting, in order to have it on me, otherwise that scenario seems somewhat likely.

well maybe it was a good thing that it happened. Got my Dodge magazine yesterday, showed my wife a picture of the SRT hood. She said she saw one a couple of weeks ago and thought it looked awesome. She also said as soon as we saw the scratches thats what she thought of!! If I only had the money, I'd buy one today. I'll have to keep her happy, until I get the new hood anyway. John

First Dent at 661 Miles

First dent on the office 2004. 5 was on the first road trip, towing, 2 weeks ago. We were stopped behind stop sign, not in intersection, turning left, and someone in a 1988 S- 10 slid on the gravel, hitting the bed at maybe 5 mph. No damage to the S-10, but pushed in the bed's sheet metal & cracked the dually fender mounts. Coulda been a lot worse.

I carry 6"x6"x24" blocks to put under my gooseneck trailer jack foot. I was tossing them out of the bed, missed and hit the goosneck. Yup, it bounced back to the rear fender putting a nice dent in it. I no longer toss the 6x6's out of the bed, I set them down in style ha ha

well, Ive done it. . I was driving around downtown riverside today, cut a corner sharp, because I had to. Nailed a curb, bent the lip of the pass. side rear rim just a bit :( Oh well. . its bound to happen eventually.

I don't know how long ago it was but, do they have surveillance cameras in the parking lot? Most home centers do. Call and ask you might be able to find out who done it. .
