I just bought my truck a few weeks ago and was wondering what should be the first thing that I should do to upgrade the diesel. I have read about the EZ and so forth, but is there anything else that I should do before that?

:D :D Welcom to the Dark Side (Bombing the Truck). First things first. Get yourself a good set of gages. These should include the mandatory Pyro (Exhaust Gas Temp) and Boost (Intake Pressure). If you have an Automatic, transmission Temp Gage, if not then Engine Oil Temp. These should be the absolute first things you get before adding a fuel box. I have an EZ and love it. But I got my gages first and glad I did. When you put the EZ on, you will be able to see what is going on. That is very important. Good luck and have fun.

I bought mine from TST Products, they installed in about an hour and the directions were word for word how to do the install. they even estimated the time to do it correctly. and gave you a tool list.

Kinda new to this too.......

But that hasn't stopped me. I took everyones advice and got the gauges. I went with the Autonmeter Z-series. Gauges are a personal preference you should shop around and see what you like.

Took me about 6 hours start to finish to install them. Nothing too difficult if your somewhat mechanically inclined and have a good set of tools.

I then put in the EZ and WOW:eek:  Different truck altogether. This is what I thought it would be like when I bought it.

A word of warning though... . Bombing is a disease for which there is no cure!!:D

Check with Don @ e-guages.com..... They sell VDO's and match your factory guages, faces, and lighting both... ... .

Pretty EZ install... ... You'll find this truck fairly ez to work on, and very responsive to mods... ... Have fun!!!!

Welcome to the Forum...

Yes gauges first. After the gauges,I'd say get to know your truck first... find out where the sweet spot is,find out where you get the best mileage. There's always time to BOMB once you know how your truck works.

[I have a 97 cab/chassis diesel and recently straight piped it and put a K&N air filter in it. that made a BIG difference. My fuel mileage went from 10 around town to 15 in town and it sounds SOOOOO sweet. have fun with your new truck. :D :D
