Hello everybody ..

I got my first diesel year ago and i have some questions now .. so if you could help me that would be wonderful ...

the dodge i have is a 2011 4 door 8 foot bed 6.7 L .. I had a check engine light on ran the code and said something about the wiring going too the exhaust so me and my boy took the time and replaced the wiring and poof no more engine light .. Now we can smell exhaust inside the cab but no engine light is on and no code as well .. But when we take it out and smash the skinny pedal the truck blows black smoke and the smell is gone .. so what am i missing did i do something wrong ?? is there something else i need too replace ??

I have been told that the exhaust filter is plugged .. Could this be true ??

Thank you for taking the time too help me

A 6.7 should never blow black smoke so first of all your DPF is cracked and needs to be replaced. But before you go to the expense of replacement you need to make sure the truck is repaired. The DPF was cracked by excessive heat, possibly related to the ò2 sensor problem you had. Run it a good while and make sure it does not have additional codes, it gets fair fuel economy, and the smell is gone. Also on the smell check for exhaust leaks at the manifold, EGR cooler, and turbo band clamps.
