Bell WSB seems to work well in compound setup.

Saw a commercial today on Spike tv that next week (8/20) Banks is going to put the first ever duramax twin turbo setup on an 80's model chevy suburban. It's going to be on the show Extreme 4x4. They are putting a kit on the suburban to make it look like a Hummer H1. Wonder how this is going to work out?

They also said they would be using an aftermarket crank, rods, pistons, and CNC ported cylinder heads. . It should make great power even if it's tuned very conservative. . It didn't appear to be a compound set up. . The brief picture looked as if it had the same size turbo mounted on each side of the engine. .

There's a person here on TDR that has been building compound turbo setups for the dmax for a while now. .

Saw the show, they have Gale Banks endorsing and providing the motor, should be pretty insane, no budget ordeal. They had the Allison 1000 they are going to use, they claimed it was good to 1000HP had it special built by some transmission place. I would not be surprised to see that be what the motor ends up putting out. Seems Spike has a thing for Banks, Trucks and now Extreme 4X4 seem to have the stuff on all the time and really like it.

product endorsement...

just think of the $$$ SPIKE is raking in everytime they say "BANKS" or show a BANKS product!!

Im glad they are doing these build-ups but come on what guy at home has a time, $ and a shop to do that just for a "tow vehicle"... .

someone should put together a percentage graph of what private contractors are using to haul campers/trailers/ 3 car wedges and we will find the TRUE "ultimate tow vehicle"

Looks cool. Did anyone notice that those are 10 bolt axles under that Suburban? They won't last with the power a diesel will have. They would need one ton stuff. D60/14bolt.

There have been true "twin turbo" kits installed on Dmaxes for the last year to two. IIRC there is a guy in Colorado that does it. Theres also been compounded twin turbos out for duramaxes for at least the last year from DTT. Love how just because Bank$ does it, makes it the "first".

If it is anything like most of the hi dollar stuff Banks cranks out, it will be marginal in horsepower, but will have the bank roll behind it to put it in every magazine and TV show that deals with any thing close to that subject.
