As being a new owner to the truck... I changed my first fuel filter with success. My truck now has 8000 miles on it and so far (as of today) it's had 2 oil changed (plus filter) and just now the fuel filter. I swear the guy that put the first oil filter on also put the cap on the fuel filter. It was quite tight to get off and kind of a pain. First, I love the Geno's quick change plug, the one that has the lever that slides over and opens and just drains. SO SIMPLE AND GREAT since I (the dummie) was in a hurry and didn't notice that my oil pan still had the cap in it, so I slide it back to close quickly and avoided a big mess. While that drained, I sat down and ate to let the truck cool down some. The oil filter came off fine and the gallon bag trick worked great... only make sure that you put the bag into the top of your oil pan OR somewhere you can't spill it, you never know if you put a hole in it or if it will stay shut... I knocked it over and spilled oil. The bag trick also worked good for the fuel filter, but one thing that I read before doing the change was to put a coke bottle to catch the draining fuel. Well, I don't drink coke and didn't have anything but the 1 quart bottle from the oil change. Works great and avoided making a mess. Now getting the truck started was a bit interesting and scary since I never did this before. I cycled the pump 4 times, started it up and then it died. Cycled the pump about 3 times and tried started it 3 times for 10 seconds. It was interesting to see this big old engine just crank and not fire up! The third time it just fired up and was running, never had any problem.
