Would someone please get me the correct part number for the high volume low pressure piston lift pump that fits the first gens. Ive ordered 4988751 it was wrong. I would also like the case number if possible. Or do I omit the first number and add a j? Thank You!

That one’s for a 2nd Gen 12V with the p-pump and puts out too much pressure for a VE, correct Ryan?

Sorry, I’m not aware of a Cummins low pressure piston pump. I’ll see what I can find.

Cummins # 4983584

Always check fitment before install where I'm offering this part number generically.....I understand your dilemma where you mentioned Case....

I know there is one, looks identical to 2nd Gen 12V piston pump - only 15psi instead of 30.
I put one on my 91 over 10 yrs ago. See what #3936320 comes up as.

Ran this backwards, 3936320 supercedes to 4988751 which is what the OP got first. After running through 20 or so different arrangements I found a 30 psi rating for that part number...predominant use was on 4BT engines, only found one occurrence of it being used on a 6BT by Cummins...

Hmmm. I no longer own that truck so hard to verify which pump # I used. Fuel pressure was definitely 15psi though.

I googled Cummins 15psi piston lift pump and got a few hits. One where seller "modified" 30psi version to 14-15psi.

I’m going to speculate that the original part number might have been low pressure but as demand decreased Cummins superseded several slow moving low pressure numbers to the higher pressure version..

Just a theory..

This is the supersession path of the 4988748:
  1. 3917334

  7. 3933253

Sorry no part numbers but good info. I forgot about the spacer -#3914284 . https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/genos-replacement-lift-pump.244836/

I doubt I have any paperwork or the box left in storage but I will look this weekend if I can.

https://www.thehungrydiesel.com/product.sc?productId=16&categoryId=383 - apparently you can get a 15psi or 12psi version.

I don't remember having a huge issue getting the correct pump 10ish years ago o_O

Check your email...

OP, I found the bulletin I think we need. It changes to a newer number but I think a line change is required as well..

I sent it to BigPapa to get his opinion....
